When I’m planning a trip, restaurants that I want to eat at are the first destinations that I write down! It must be the food blogger in me but I’m always in search of the best food when I’m out of town! Well, I’ve got two reasons! #1 I Love food and want to taste all of the amazing food out there & #2 I want good food for my money!
I check blogs, travel websites, Trip Advisor and you tube videos on the best restaurants for what ever area I’m planning on traveling too!
I went to Miami back in May and I wanted to share with y’all 4 really good restaurants that I got to check out while I was there!
#1. Swine Southern Table & Bar
I wrote an entire blog post about Swine Southern Table & Bar . I really liked Swine and it’s the first restaurant to make it onto the list today!
If you’re from the south you will probably find that most of the food at Swine is “normal food” with a fancier touch. If you’re not from the south, hold on tight because you’re getting ready to taste some fantastic southern cuisine!
When we first got reservation here everyone was super excited because it was Southern Food, well I’m from the South so this is normal food to me haha. But I will say that they exceeded my expectations and I didn’t expect to find such good southern food in Miami! I know Miami is in the south but Florida isn’t normally know for it’s Deep South Food 😉
The three dishes below were my favorite! On the left are the homemade Oreos with a bourbon spiked milk! I think that was probably the best dessert I had while I was there. Big Bear would have flipped for them! The cookie part was a bit softer than a regular Oreo but the cream filling was spot on! It was like someone was in the kitchen scraping the insides of Oreos into a bowl to use for these babies!
Top Right are the 1855 Black Angus Burnt Ends — fried cornbread, kansas city molasses mop, watercress and the Bottom Right is the Mac & Cheese — ‘pig tail’ macaroni, bacon, 5 cheeses, crispy crust! I think that we all went crazy over that Mac and Cheese!
#2. Morgan’s
We stopped by Morgans after seeing a few other bloggers posting about this little spot on Instagram! We went over for brunch one morning but they do serve lunch and dinner!
That Chocolate Dipped Waffle just jumped out at me!!
Now the Chocolate Dipped Waffle was fantastic. It was sweet and um, HELLO it had ice cream on it! Ice cream for brunch? I’ll take it! Now as much as I love chocolate and strawberries though I will say that the chocolate dipped waffle was just a tab bit too sweet for me.
I think the best thing that anyone had for brunch was the Eggs Benedict. It was so, so good! I totally recommend that if a super sweet breakfast isn’t your thing! They also have a chicken and waffle sandwich that I wish I had tried!
But while you’re sipping on your mimosas and trying to figure out what to order, go ahead at put in an order for beignets (lower right corner of the photo)! They take about 30 minutes to make so you’ll want to order those first so that they can have them out once you’re done eating! They are so worth the wait! (Try them with the caramel!!)
#3. Joe’s Take Away
If you’re over on Miami Beach make sure to swing into Joe’s Take Away for Stone crab and Pie!
There is a Joe’s restaurant connected to this if you want to sit down for a meal but we just jumped in for a quick taste of the stone crab legs and pie while we were walking; the “Take Away” side was perfect for that! They do have a few chairs that you can grab if you want to have a seat and eat while you’re there!
This was my first time having Stone Crab and I’m so glad that Cathy from NoblePig.com suggested it!
I don’t know how to describe it, you just have to go give it a taste! Also they have pie! They have chocolate chip pecan pie! Now if that doesn’t get you down there I don’t know what will!
#4. Versailles Bakery
After we had lunch at Swine, we drove over to Versailles Bakery! I loved it so much that when I was in the Miami airport to go home I made sure to visit the Versailles Bakery that’s in the airport so that I could have one last taste!
This place is busy, busy.
Be sure to grab and number when you go in and just have patience; they move through pretty quickly!
I loved the Dulce Leche Eclair!
At the one in the airport I got a cafe con leche and a guava pastry! Those cafe con leches will wake you up in a heart beat! haha
What are you favorite places to eat in Miami? Have you tried any of these places?
If You’ve never been to Miami, which place would you try first if you got to visit soon?
