Ingredients
- 2 pounds fresh green beans, cleaned and ends snapped off
- 4 cups chicken broth (vegetable broth)
- 3 cups water
- 1 pound smoked pork jowl
- 1 pork neck bone
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 3 teaspoons garlic powder
- 3 teaspoons onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
Instructions
- Clean the string beans by washing them room.
- Snap the ends off the green beans and discard them.
- Snap the longer green beans in half.
- Add the green beans to the bowl of slow cooker.
- Turn the slow cooker onto low.
- Add in half of the pork jowl and all of the pork neck to the green beans.
- Pour in the broth and water.
- Add in the garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper.
- Stir Well.
- Cook for 6 hours on low.
- At the 6 hour mark, add the other 1/2 of the diced pork jowl to skillet and cook for about 10 minutes. Pour the pork jowl and drippings into the green beans.
- Cook on low for another 2 hours.
