Garlic Crouton Sticks are semi soft on the inside while crispy and crunchy on the outside, just as a crouton stick should be! These Crouton Sticks are great for dipping!
Do you remember me telling you how strange Thomas’ eating habits were when we got married? Ok, well I suppose that they weren’t super weirdo strange but his diet mainly consisted of steak, potatoes and whatever burger he could grab from a drive through, to-go window. Which this was totally ok when we were dating, mainly because we were super young and well, when you’re boyfriend (and then fiance) is only home on the weekends because he’s on a military base the rest of the week, you don’t tend to really concern yourself with what he’s eating.
It wasn’t until we got married that I realized that we couldn’t live on take out for the rest of our lives. We were literally going to have to cook our food, our parents were not going to be fixing anymore of our daily meals and going out to eat (that we did A LOT of when we were dating) was going to have us in the poor house before our 1st anniversary.
So the day when I started to teach myself how to cook is the day I was determined to get Thomas to start eatting a variety of foods. It became my own little mission to find foods and meals that were out of his comfort zone (and mine) but so dang tasty that he wouldn’t complain after the first bite. We’ve been married for over 9 years at this point and I have been ridiculously successful. I don’t say that to brag……wait….yes I do. haha This is a HUGE, amazing accomplishment when it comes to Thomas and I’m totally patting myself on the back.
I have to say, even though I’ve been introducing Thomas to all kinds of new foods over the past 9 years it wasn’t until the last year or so that we both started to eat and enjoy hummus. Like so many of the foods we now stock our pantry and fridge with, hummus was something that I quickly well in love with at a conference one year and I haven’t looked back. It started with a simple, normal everyday hummus and now our stockpile of Sabra Hummus in the fridge contains favorites like, “Roasted Garlic Hummus” and “Lemon Twist Hummus”.
Now Sabra hummus is one of our go to snacks and I’ve learned that so many of our friends and family are Sabra lovers as well!
I ask Thomas all the time if 19 year old Thomas would approve of 31 year old Thomas, haha he just laughs and says, “Probably not.” I just have to say that our 19 year old selves were totally missing out.
Dear Sabra Hummus, I wish I had met you earlier so that I could love you longer! haha – yes, I did just work a love quote in for Sabra and it’s totally true.
So after 9 years of all of this food talk and cooking does Thomas still reach for take out and steaks with potatoes, heck yeah he does. He’s human, y’all. He’s still working long days and grabbing breakfast and lunch when he can, sometimes it’s leftovers and sometimes it’s to-go drive thru, but when dinnertime rolls around that’s our time. We snack, we cook, we come together after a super long day and we connect again.
Our little island/bar area in the kitchen is where I line up with we’re cooking with and what we’re snacking on. Snacks, before dinner? It’s totally a thing y’all….haven’t you heard of appetizers?
Well, Today Sabra is launching their new #UnofficialMeal campaign, it’s all about another little opportunity to snack, enjoy each other’s company, reconnect and just be together while you’re snacking away.
So this is what I’m offering you today on the blog, an easy little recipe for Garlic Crouton Sticks, which are perfect for setting out with a few tubs of Sabra Hummus for your #UnofficialMeal!
I prefer the Roasted Garlic but Thomas has been devouring the Lemon Twist lately. These little sticks can be stored in a air tight container or in a huge ziplock sealed bag on the counter for easy snacking.
They’re semi soft on the inside while crispy and crunchy on the outside, just as a crouton stick should be. These little Crouton Sticks are great for dipping!
Want to add some great toppings to your hummus?
The Roasted Garlic hummus is what I’m working with today and it’s so good y’all but I still added even more roasted garlic flavor but roasting my own garlic at home and adding it to my hummus with a few little swirls of olive oil.
Making roasted garlic is really easy and if you don’t know how to make roasted garlic, I’ve got a little post on the blog that can show you exactly how to Roast Garlic!
Garlic overkill? Too much Garlic? NO, that’s not even a thing in my book. My loved ones have never judged me for too much garlic, mainly because they’re right in there beside me scooping it up faster than I am!
