This recipes sounds great. Just a suggestion, you can run your cooked pasta under cold water in colander if u want to stop the cooking process after taking it off heat. That helps cool it n keeps the firmness to it. I do not like mushy pasta lol. Just thought I’d mention. I’m sure going to try this. I’m always looking for a good pasta salad recipe esp during summers in Louisiana.

I use tri-color rotini, ham, shredded cheddar cheese, can of petite tomatoes, parmesan cheese, and fine chopped black olives. Like others, I chill overnight and add more italian dressing to add favor and moisture.
Parmesan cheese helps soak up the dressing if I over do it the next day.

I have a similar recipe that I've been making for years. Got it from a co-worker years ago. I use the Hormel Chunk Ham in the can and grated cheddar cheese. Also I add in several veggies that I like; this recipe is very forgiving and always great. For myself, I add in grated carrot, chopped celery, jarred pimento, pickle relish, and a small can of chopped black olives (drained). Like you, I use more Italian dressing (light version) just before serving.
