I’ve got all kinds of cobbler recipes in my back pocket and some have made it here on the blog. I’ve made cobblers for parties, for holiday desserts and I’ve even made them on TV. They’re super easy to create and almost everyone seems to love them. Plus I love that they can be made with almost any kind of fruit!
I’ve made:
All of them just as wonderful as the last.
Well, strawberry season is here on the VA/NC state line! My mom, my sister in law and myself took the opportunity last week to take Jackson and my nephew, Ashton, strawberry picking and had the best time. Not only did the boys love picking the fresh berries but we came away with about 20 pounds of strawberries! Time to snack on fresh berries and turn them into kitchen masterpieces!

How to make Homemade Strawberry Cobbler:
It’s time to turn some amazing strawberries into a fantastic strawberry cobbler. Let me show you how easy this recipe is.
Start by preheat your oven to 350F.
Homemade Strawberry Cobbler Filling:
In a large bowl, add the strawberries cornstarch and lemon juice.
Sprinkle in the sugar and stir. Set the strawberries aside for a bit to work on the topping. This is going to bring out the sweetness and juice from the berries.
Homemade Strawberry Cobbler Topping:
This strawberry cobbler or strawberry crisp has a sweetened oat topping. However, I have a recipe on the blog for an apple crisp that uses a sweet cake topping instead. The cake topping would also work for this strawberry cobbler if you’re not a fan of oats on the top of your fruit cobblers or fruit crisps.
In another bowl, combine the flour, both sugars, cinnamon, salt and oats.
Add in the softened butter and then use a pastry cutter or your hands to work the butter into the mixture until it resembles coarse sand. I actually found my last pastry cutter at the dollar tree haha but if you don’t have one and don’t want to use your hands, you can also use 2 forks to work the butter into the oats.
Place the strawberries in a baking dish and add the crumble topping over the entire top of the strawberries.
Slightly press down on to the cobbler topping.
Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the strawberry mixture bubbles up and the crumble mixture is golden brown.
Oh my word, I can smell this cobbler as I type this! Baked strawberries is just a heavenly scent, y’all!.
Of course you can serve this plain but it’s event better when serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Homemade Strawberry Cobbler FAQ:
- How long do you bake strawberry cobbler? About 45 minutes at 350F.
- Can I use frozen strawberries for strawberry cobbler? I haven’t tested this particular recipe with frozen strawberries but if I were going to attempt it, I could thaw them and dry them as much as possible with a paper towel so that the cobbler didn’t turn out super soggy.
- What size baking dish? The one in the photos is an 8 inch oval baking dish – about 2 quarts but an 8×8 dish will work too 🙂

This would be a strawberry crisp or crumble since it has oats for the topping and a cobbler doesn’t. Some people use a a Bisquick mixture to make a cobbler topping but a true cobbler topping is more of a crunchy, golden, buttery one that more or less rises to the top. This crisp looks DELICIOUS and since it uses my favorite, strawberries, I’ll be putting the end of my Summer’s supply to good use!! Can’t wait to make this and all the other strawberry recipes! I have stumbled upon my new lite strawberry treasure chest…Thank You!
