For the pictures in this post, I used about 8 ounces. You want to use a jar with a lid and fill it half way with the heavy cream. Do amount is going to depend on what size jar you're using. You want to have enough room to shake the cream to make the butter so don’t fill it up too high.

for the Cinnamon Honey Butter, I think I used 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon and 1 tablespoon of honey.

feel free to delete this after reading but there is a spelling error I found. Where is says "Keeping pouring water (and pouring it out) until the water that runs off the butter us clear".
I think it is supposed to be "the butter IS** clear". I'm not trying to be the grammar police. I am just trying to be helpful.

thanks for the recipe. I did this as a science experiment back when I was in grade 4 (1999). Our teacher brought little tiny bitty jars for each student and some cream and we got to bring it home. I thought it was THE COOLEST thing and I was SO proud I made butter. So I just bought some heavy cream and am doing it with ny 9 year old daughter today:)

When it looked like cream inside when I opened the jar to check it, I stirred it with a spoon just once and then shook it again to get it to separate. After that it separated perfectly.

It must not have been shaken long enough. Heavy cream will separate into butter and buttermilk when it is done correctly :)

It sounds like it needed more shaking. Once it looks solid, you pour off the buttermilk and use your hands to massaging it to compress the extra butter milk out and form it. Then run it under cold water to rinse the rest of the buttermilk off. The cold water helps to "thickin" it up too
