While my brain craves carbs, my body doesn’t always like them so it’s always fun to try and find low carb recipes to fufill my want for the carbs in life. For example, I am ok with not eating rolls or toast but I do like sandwiches. However, bread and sandwiches go hand in hand. I just don’t look forward to eating the insides of a sandwich that have just been tossed on a plate.
That’s where chaffles come in and I’m so glad that I discovered them!
WHAT IS A CHAFFLE?
A chaffle is a waffle that’s made of cheese and egg and it’s great as a substitute for bread in sandwiches. Don’t worry though, it doesn’t taste as weird as it sounds.
I was skeptical at first and a chaffle didn’t sounds appealing at all but after making them I realized that they were actually pretty good!
I really like adding ranch seasoning to chaffles when I make them so let me show you how I make my favorite Ranch BLT Chaffle Sandwich!

I am drooling! Love the flavor profile – and I’ve not given chaffles a try yet, but what better way to test them out!
Can you use fresh mozzarella for this recipe or would it be too “wet”. Thank you! Can’t wait to try this!
I think mozzarella would be great for inside of the sandwich however, I’m actually not positive that it wouldn’t work in the chaffle. I know fresh mozzarella is pretty much impossible to grate but if you chopped it up small enough you might be able to mix it with the egg and make it smooth enough to create a batter. I would need to test that before giving an answer. If you try it before I do, let me know how it works.
This sounds awesome. I have a traditional square waffle maker. How much should I put for each? Thanks in advance!
Hi Laurie. I don’t know what size your waffle maker is 🙂 You’ll just need to pour until the waffle iron is covered. If you have a large waffle iron, you may need to double the recipe.
