Hi I love reading your thoughts and recipes. I would like to make the Southern Green Beans in a crockpot for Thanksgiving dinner. I am not sure if Wegmans or Tops in Upstate NY carries smoked pork jowl. I will look into it but meanwhile should I use thick bacon if I can't find the pork jowl?

BTW, you, Big Bear and the family have a blessed Thanksgiving!!

Have you ever tried adding a little white or brown sugar to it? The kids seem to like it better that way. I'm going to try this for Thanksgiving this year, as I'm pretty much over green bean casserole! LOL
