Hi there! I didn’t know Ellein but she sounds wonderful. This was a recipe that was written down in my grandma Sarah’s recipe binder. She was from Virginia 🙂 I’m so glad that you found this recipe and I hope that you love it if you get to give it a try! I love hearing about memories like this!

This recipe I got from my American mother Ellein in 1983. After moving to a different state I asked her to send me instructions on how to make it, she did and we loved it.  Somehow I misplaced  the recipe and tried to make it from my memory but the ratio was never right and it did not work and I had to throw it out.   After a few years I tried today and again did not work. I was so disappointed and upset thinking I will never be able to make it again, Ellein’s memory will be lost. Out of disappointment I thought to google search hoping something similar will be found. After trying a few times I found your recipe and while reading I felt goosebumps, it is exactly she sent me her recipe. Miracle happens, the moment I lose all hopes that I will never make it and it is here. It is like I am dreaming. Please, if you can share with me how you found this recipe. You mentioned it is from your grandma, I was wondering did you know Ellein? She is from Seattle WA.
