Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes

_MAPLE MASHED SWEET POTATOES with butter and pecans (1)

Maple Mashed Sweet Potatoes - roasted sweet potatoes mashed with butter, brown sugar and maple syrup.

Total Time 1 hour 30 minutes


  • 5 large sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • Chopped pecans, optional


  1. Preheat oven to 400F.
  2. Prink sweet potatoes with a fork and wrap each one in foil.
  3. Lay wrapped potatoes on a baking sheet and bake for 45 minutes.
  4. Carefully flip potatoes and bake for 30 more minutes.
  5. Remove from oven and let potatoes slightly cool.
  6. Once cool enough to touch, remove foil and skin from potatoes.
  7. Add sweet potato "meat" to a bowl of a mixer.
  8. Whip sweet potatoes until smooth.
  9. Melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat in a sauce pan.
  10. Once melted, slowly add to sweet potatoes while mixing.
  11. Add in 1 tablespoon of maple syrup and mix.
  12. Taste and add another tablespoon of maple if needed.
  13. Spoon into serving dish.
  14. Top with butter, a sprinkle of brown sugar and chopped pecans.
  15. Serve Warm.


Pecans are optional.
