How To Make Chocolate Chip Pound Cake:
-
Preheat oven.
-
Cream the butter and sugar together with an electric mixer until smooth. You can use a stand mixer for this or a bowl with an electric hand mixer.
-
Mix in eggs and vanilla extract.
For the eggs, make sure they are at room temperature before use. This ensures that they will mix well with the other ingredients and create a cohesive batter.
Also, when it comes to vanilla extract, don’t skimp. Using real vanilla extract rather than imitation can make a noticeable difference in the taste of your cake. -
In a large bowl, combine all dry ingredients (found here, on the recipe card)
-
Gently mix those into the wet ingredients and mix until combined.
-
Mix in sour cream until just combined. We don’t want to over mix our batter.
Finally, fold in your chocolate chips by hand. This will ensure that the chocolate chips are evenly distributed throughout the batter. Once the batter is fully mixed, it’s time to pour it into your prepared pan and bake in the oven.
It’s also a good idea to reserve a handful of chocolate chips to sprinkle on top of the batter before baking. This will create a beautiful, chocolate-studded appearance on the finished cake. -
Pour into prepared loaf pan (standard size)

-
Bake for 1 hour and 45 minutes. Remove and let cool completely.

-
Serve as is or top with glaze.

Does It Matter What Chocolate Chips I Use?
It kinda does when it comes to baking. When it comes to chocolate chips, not all chips are created equal. Look for high-quality chocolate chips that are made with real cocoa butter for the best flavor. You can use dark, semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips, depending on your preference.
Can I Bake This Pound Cake in a Bundt pan?
You can. However, cook times will vary and I haven’t tested this recipe in a bundt pan.
