Last year when we were at Disney for Food Blog Forum, we stopped into one of the candy stores for a look around. I was in love with all of the Disney treats. I especially loved the Minnie and Mickey mouse apples. I just think they are super adorable. The only thing I don’t love about them is the $9.99 price tag for an apple with chocolate on it. Yes, I know everything at Disney is crazy over priced, but still… holy moly.
While we were there I remember seeing Mickey Apples, Minnie Apples, Goofy Apples and Cheshire Cat Apples. But… NOT one single princess Apple. The horror! The princesses are certainly important enough to have an apple!
So what to do? Make Princess apples 🙂 The first one on my list? Snow White! Why? Well, she was the first Disney princess, so of course she has to be the first apple!
We’re going to make them all though! Or at least try to. When I say “we’re going to make them”, I mean my cousin Crystal and I will be making our way through the princesses. Crystal just started her very own food blog and she’s loving it! So she’s the perfect person to drag along… I mean bring along on this “chocolate apple journey” haha
I obviously know that people don’t just sit around eating chocolate apples all of the time. They’re not right for dinner nor do they make the perfect breakfast… but they are cute, sweet and crisp. Not to mention they are apples covered in chocolate! 🙂 The chocolate layer is super thin, once you slice the apple it’s easy to pop off if you don’t want all the chocolate.
So it’s just something fun for us. 🙂 (I am also aware that I am no Disney Chocolatier so… these are not perfect lol)
For these apples you’ll need:
Apples
Yellow Melting Chocolate
Dark Blue Melting Chocolate
Chocolate Covered Sunflower Seeds (red ones)
Cookie Pop Sticks
To get the apples ready insert the cookie pop sticks into the tops of the apples.
Melt the dark blue chocolate wafers in a large bowl. You can melt them in the microwave or on the stove top. Be sure to follow the package directions.
Once the chocolate is melted, dip an apple into the melted chocolate. Spin to coat the entire apple.
Place the apple onto a flat surface (I covered my cutting board in foil and put them on that)
While the chocolate is still wet, press red chocolate covered sunflower seeds into the top part of the apple in groups of three. This will represent the red designs on Snow White’s puffy sleeves.
Let the dark blue chocolate harden.
Melt the yellow chocolate wafers in a large bowl. You can melt them in the microwave or on the stove top. Be sure to follow the package directions.
Let the chocolate cool for a bit. If it’s too hot it will melt the blue chocolate off of the apples. Once the yellow chocolate has cooled (but hasn’t hardened) dip the bottom half of the apples into the yellow. This will represent Snow White’s dress. (well the bottom of her dress)
Place the apple onto a flat surface and let the chocolate harden.
That’s how I made my Snow White Chocolate Apples.
