Food Holidays… who knew that there were Food Holidays? *Raise your Hand!* I didn’t even know that Food Holidays existed until I became a food blogger! There are National Food Holidays for everything!
For example, Tomorrow (June 14th) is National Strawberry ShortCake Day! So how do you celebrate National Strawberry Shortcake Day? You make Strawberry ShortCake and Strawberry ShortCake inspired desserts, that’s how! 😉
Strawberry ShortCake automatically makes me think of my sister in law, Rachael. She adores Strawberry ShortCake and is 100% in LOVE with the Strawberry ShortCake Trifle that I make. One year ( I think it was for her birthday), I made a bunch of mini Strawberry ShortCake Trifles for her in mason jars and she was in heaven!
Now don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a traditional Strawberry ShortCake but sometimes it’s fun to change up things. So today, I turned my Strawberry ShortCake Trifle into Strawberry ShortCake Kabobs with a Strawberry Honey Fruit Dip!
They’re easy to assemble and you can make these the morning of a cook out, pile them on a plate and wrap in plastic wrap until you’re ready to serve them! Speaking of cookouts, I have even heard of people grilling angel food cake so that’s another option for these; you could grill the angel food cake pieces before assembling the kabobs!
The dip for these Strawberry ShortCake Kabobs is a Strawberry and Honey Fruit Dip and only has 3 ingredients! So Super Simple!
To make the Strawberry and Honey Fruit Dip you’ll need:
- 10 large strawberries
- 3 tablespoons of honey
- 12 oz of cool whip, thawed
These Strawberry ShortCake Kabobs are made up of beautiful red strawberries, cubes of heavenly angel food cake and large white marshmallows. Now I know that Strawberry Shortcake doesn’t normally have marshmallows, BUT I wanted something on the kabob to represent the whipped cream that’s served with Strawberry ShortCake. Since whipped cream isn’t going to cooperate and hang on a skewer, I chose bright white marshmallows to take it’s place.
