Cast Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie

Cast Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie

Do you have one of those Cookie Places or Cookie Companies in your Mall?
We use to. :(
It was called "The Great American Cookie Company", and it was one of my favorite places when I was little.

They have the glass cases where you can see all of the cookies varieties with the huge cookie cakes for parties displayed at the bottom. I loved getting a special treat there as a child, and as I grew up I had cookie cakes instead of birthday cakes.
When My Best Friend was pregnant, she craved the cookie cakes, with EXTRA chocolate icing, and I remember making special trips over there to by her cookie cakes by the slice and getting the to squeeze half a bag of chocolate icing onto the slice haha.

But that cookie place is gone now, closed down. So sad.

But I still love those cookie cakes, but now I just have to make by own for parties.

Cast Iron Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie
Adapted From Tracy's blog Sugar Crafter

I really only changed the size of the skillet, I had a bit larger one to work with and I only cooked mine for about 30 minutes

What you'll need:
3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1 egg
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups chocolate chips

What to do:

Preheat the oven to 350F degrees.

Coat a 14 inch cast iron skillet lightly with vegetable oil.

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

In the bowl of your mixer, cream together the butter and the sugars.

Mix well until all are combined and creamy.

Add in the egg and vanilla.
Mix until well combined.

Gradually add the flour mixture to the mixing bowl and mix until well-combined.

Stir in the chocolate chips.
Press the dough into the bottom of the cast iron skillet.
Bake  for about 30 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned.

Once done baking, remove skillet from the over and let cool.

Slice into wedges and serve with ice cream...........or just eat the cookie plain but the fork full haha.
