The first week of 2013 has already passed me by. How in the heck did that happen?! On one hand Christmas seems like it happened months and months ago, and then on the other it feels like we just left the beach (where we had Christmas this year) and started to head back home.
Travel back home made me want to start planning our next vacation haha. This beach trip that we took in December was our first real vacation that BigBear and I took together in six years! (the last one being our honeymoon). I can’t wait for our next trip. 🙂
I posted a little bit back in December when we were actually at the beach. We stayed for a week at Carolina Beach the week of Christmas. It was so wonderful! As in I REALLY want to go on vacation for every Christmas. So relaxing. No holiday stress, just peace 🙂
Some days were relaxing and some days we explored Wilmington and Fort Fisher. On Friday we went down to the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.
Last time we went, BigBear was in Iraq so he didn’t get to go. I marked this on as list as a must do and I think everyone enjoyed it.
They have an Albino Alligator. Her name is Luna. Did you know that she’s the only animal at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher that had a name. It’s because she’s the only animal that will be there for life.
I also took on my fear of snakes! Ok… not really. I lied. I did get the opportunity to get some neat shots of this snake at the Aquarium, but it was from behind glass with a zoom. HAHA. Snakes scare the hibbie jebbies out of me.
They have a live “touch” tank. It’s full of little stingrays, horseshoe crabs and starfish. The StingRays are kinda slimy, well they feel kinda slimy and we got to watch the starfish “dig” back into the sand.
OH and there were Nemos there! haha
That night we went into downtown Wilmington. I’ve been wanting to go back on the Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington Tour since BigBear and I went back in 2008.
I love hearing all of the Ghost Stories while we’re walking around the old houses and stores of Wilmington! If you’re ever in Wilmington, NC go by there and catch one of their tours!
Please tell me I’m not the only one that loves a good ghost story! It’s even better when you can stand in the location while they’re telling the story!
