What a year, oh 2014 you’ve been too good to me! I have to admit that this year has by far been one of my favorites and like I said before, even though we ended the year with the loss of BigBear’s grandmother, we gained a beautiful guardian angel! <3
In 2014 I got to travel a ton, my blog grew so much and my self confidence took a turn for the better. My blog has taken me all over the place and I’m so grateful that you’ve been along for the ride.
Speaking of going all over the place, while my main focus has always been recipes, I’m so excited that I got to expand the travel section of my blog this year!
This year started with our Anniversary trip to Hawaii where we got to check out the North Shore, swim with sea turtles, explore Chinatown and fall in love with “Hawaiian Foods“.
I traveled to Miami for the first time for my first BlogHer FOOD conference and fell in love with the beaches and food scene. I got to spend time in my favorite city (Wilmington/Carolina Beach) with some of my favorite people. Ran around Asheville and the Biltmore for Food Blog Forum, drove down to Savannah, GA with Mrs. Happy Homemaker for a Paula Deen party (even got to meet Paula Deen and visit her house!) and I got to experience CornQuest in Iowa with a few awesome bloggers.
It was amazing!
But enough about my travels, let’s get onto the food! At the end if each year I try to take some time to pull up which recipes were the most popular/the most viewed on my blog for the year. It’s pretty neat to see how they change from year to year. Here is the list for 2013 if you want to see what was popular last year!
So here are the 10 Most Popular Recipes of 2014 starting with #10…
This was my first year making my own Apple Butter. In the past, I had bought some from my friend Heather and had also visited a few farmers markets in order to get my hands in it. Back in August I found my self with tons of apples that I needed to use up and after giving away a bunch of them I started making jars of Apple Butter! My family and friends loved it!
My friend Nikki makes the best Coconut Pie and this was my version of her beloved dessert! Normally I wouldn’t be excited about Coconut but after our trip to Hawaii last February I’m kind of growing to love it!
A favorite of mine that’s easy to make and super tasty!
It brings back memories of church lunches and I can’t get enough of it!
#7. Island Jerk Pork
I made this Island Jerk Pork when I was promoting a new cookbook called,
You can find my recipe for Broccoli and Cheese Potato Soup in that cookbook!
I had no intention of this smoothie recipe becoming popular. There are a million smoothie recipes out there so why would this one be any different? But, I made this I was so super excited about my new Ninja blender that BigBear had gotten me for Christmas and I really wanted to keep my recipe for my favorite Strawberry Banana Smoothie close by! I suppose it became a favorite for others as well!
I made these for my Dad’s 60th Birthday, after I failed miserably at trying to make him a 3 layers German Chocolate cake. haha I’m kind of glad that the cake failed though because I fell in love with these German Chocolate Cupcakes.
A slight adaption from the Black Truffle White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese that I started making a while ago after a visit to “Mickey’s Pantry” in Downtown Disney. I love mushrooms so this version is even more delicious in my opinion.
I made these cupcakes at the beginning of the year to celebrate my blog’s 5th birthday! They’re rich chocolate cupcakes that are filled with sweet marshmallow filling!
I came up with this combination while I was on a walk with my friend Nikki and her girls, Alyssa and Kendra! Most people think about their goals or perhaps their distance and speed on a walk meant for exercise……I think about chocolate cake. 😉
I’m so happy that this recipe made it to the #1 spot this year! It’s by far one of my favorites and I even won a sweet little trophy for a version of it at a Food Lion Cook-off in 2013! I can literally make this in 30 minutes and the noodles don’t even have to be cooked before hand; they cook right in the broth!
Thank you for reading along! I can’t wait for 2015! Happy New Years! Did any of your favorites make the list?
What stands out to me is that coconut pie and the mac n’ cheese!! OMG!
Wow, it does sound like you had a pretty amazing year – that’s awesome! And I can totally see why these are so popular, I want to try a little bit of each (starting with that apple butter on my toast!). Happy New Year, Angie. 😉
Hello Coconut Pie! Hope you have a very Happy New Year!
What a great year you’ve had!!! Happy New Year Angie!
Congratulations on growing your blog and it sounds like 2014 was a great year for you 🙂 Sorry that my comment is a year late for some reason I tried last year from my phone but somehow lost my absolute fantastic meaningful comment 😉
Jokes aside – again congratulations to a fantastic year, and your top ten recipes are just amazing. Here is to an even better 2015 to you and Big Bear.
