American Cancer Society Cupcakes
I love working with volunteer organizations. I don’t usually have a lot of money to donate, but I do donate time, fundraiser for causes and volunteer my time when needed.
My most loved organization is Light the Night, for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society .
We walk with Light the Night each year to raise money for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society .

.
But I also have a heart for any type of Cancer.
So when our local American Cancer Society called me and asked if I could donate anything to help with their “Annual Celebration of Life”, I couldn’t say no 🙂
Well actually they called and said something along the lines of : “Could the cupcakes queen, help us out?”
I love being able to put a smile on peoples faces with cupcakes and cookies.
So of course I said YES!!!
I made and donated 100 cupcakes for the event and I just wanted to share the cupcakes I made and a few tips 🙂
SO this isn’t a recipe at all….. Just a few tips.
Tip #1. So I don’t think Boxed cake mix is the devil… I’m a busy busy woman and I just can’t make cakes from scratch all of the time. But to make boxed mix cakes and cupcakes taste better… more moist… replace the water in the recipe with milk!!!
(A tip my sister in law taught me)
Tip #2. Big and Fancy isn’t always better. I decorated these pretty simply and everyone loved them. It doesn’t always have to take 5 minutes per cupcake to make them beautiful.
To make a smooth icing surface to decorate:
(like a base coat)
#1. Melt a can of frosting in the microwave for about 30 minutes.
#2. Stir until smooth.
#3. Take 1 cupcake and dip it top down into the smooth icing.
#4. Tap cupcake side onto side of the bowl to remove the excess icing.
#5. Place base coated iced cupcakes into the fridge for about 5 minutes.
If using white icing you may want to do this process twice.
Then decorate as desired.
🙂
For these cupcakes I used a Wilton’s Tip 2D.
For the dots, I just melted a little colored icing and used a toothpick to drop drops of icing over the flowers and cupcakes.
All Ready to go!!
