Back from Wilmington, NC ….{again} + Where life is taking us!

So I’m back from Wilmington, NC once again. I went down with my friend Nikki, her husband David and their two girls for a few days! Yep, I went down with them on their family vacation haha, I’ve been going on their family trips to Wilmington for the past 10 years.

Kendra and I at Breakfast!

We enjoyed time at the beach, I spent one morning pouring over the farmer’s market, we looked for shells and found shark teeth, and even visited the carnival on the boardwalk!

Down at the Farmer’s Market on the Riverfront in Wilmington

While I did get a few days of beach relaxation while we were there, I had another objective for this trip. I was out to find us an apartment! Yep!

The cat is out of the bag, we’ve been making plans to move to Wilmington, NC!! I’ve wanted to move there since I was 18 or 19 but my plans fell through. Since then, I met BigBear, got married, moved to Camp Lejeune, moved back to VA and bounced around to a few houses.

It’s been a whirlwind these past 11 or so years but BigBear finally agreed to move!

He’s always been totally against moving back to NC but the night before my 30th birthday after I went to bed, he sent me a little e-mail that said:

“You are the most important thing in my life.  There are no words or phrases to describe how proud I am of you; you give until it hurts and keep giving to others. The promise I make to you today is to be the best husband I can be and to offer you the life you want. So with that being said Happy Birthday now lets talk about Wilmington…..”

<3 So the planning began!

While we were giving ourselves about a year or two to save up money and look for a place, we received a bit of bad news the Monday before last. Due to unfortunate circumstances (and no fault of our own) we would be loosing our current home (it’s a rental) in about 2 months. Well yeah, so a major wrench was thrown in our plans!

We’re trying to work something out so that we can can stay in the house for a bit longer (keeping those details hush hush for now) but our moving plans may have just jumped up quite a bit!  Scared to Death & Excited about the Future are two phrases that sum up my feelings right now.

Fort Fisher! Found shark teeth here!

I was super excited to look for apartments until I actually started looking! It was totally over whelming and I really wish that Big Bear could have been there with me.

So many things to consider!

Rent, Water fees, pet rules, pet fees, school districts (you know for whenever we have kids!), area, location, space, square footage……..I mean all normal things to consider but it all got to me! My brain is still spinning.

*BREATH ANGIE BREATH* I’ve got this…….right?

Oh and of course it’s always fun to return from the beach and visit the doctor to find out that you’ve been coughing so much because you (at some point without realizing it) had an asthma attack (how does one have an attack and not know it!?!), have the start of bronchitis, as well as a bit of a sinus infection and drainage. What the hell body, get it together! I’m out to get myself! Haha

My diet is going to consist of cough drops, ice pops and cough syrup for a while.

North End Pier, we use to be able to sit under here! There was a storm right before we got down there that pulled the tide up haha.

So can we chat for a bit? I KNOW this is mainly a food blog but I have a feeling that I’m going to be chatting about more than food in the future! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE to cook and share recipes with y’all but I know I’ve said it 1000 times, it’s hard sometimes to come up with things to talk about when it comes to food. I’ve got so much to write about and sometimes it just doesn’t “mesh well” with recipes and food.

I don’t have the time to start a new/separate blog, so when I’m in the mood to jibber jabber about other topics, those will probably just end up here on BigBearsWife.com 🙂 Hope you’re cool with that. But don’t worry! Recipes will totally be popping up all the time! <3

Just working on letting my true voice shine while I’m on my way to becoming a permanent beach bum! <3

Meet Angie

I love the Farmer’s Market and Farm to Table meals but I’m also not ashamed to use canned vegetables and baking mixes. It’s all about balance! I’m so glad y’all are here!
