Another cute Christmas recipe for #ChristmasSweetsWeek is hitting the blog today and I love how it turned out. This creamy chocolate chip dessert cheese ball is decorated to look like Rudolph the Red Nose Red Reindeer and would be perfect for any holiday party this year!
What you’ll need for Chocolate Chip Rudolph Cheese Ball: (amounts below in recipe)
- cream cheese, softened
- unsalted butter, softened
- powdered sugar
- chocolate chips
- vanilla extract
- Candy Eyes
- red gumball
- chocolate covered pretzels
How to help the cheese ball keep its shape:
I don’t like for the dessert cheeseballs that I make to be thick and crumbly. Personally, my preference is for dessert cheeseballs to be creamy and easy to spread, so that means they may need a little help in the fridge to hold their shape.
This is were a small bowl comes in handy!
Once your cheese ball mixture is ready to go into the fridge, lay a piece of plastic wrap on a flat surface and spoon mixture into the center.
Roll and fold cheese ball into a ball, wrapping it in the plastic wrap. Place into a bowl to help it hold its shape.
Place wrapped ball into the refrigerator for at least 2 hours (or overnight)
Decorating the Chocolate Chip Rudolph Cheese Ball:
This Christmas cheeseball is covered in chocolate chips. You can use semi sweet chocolate chips or milk chocolate chips to cover this reindeer cheese ball or even mini chocolate chips.
For antlers I used Chocolate covered pretzels but you could also use regular pretzels or pretzel crisps.
Nose options for the Chocolate Chip Rudolph Cheese Ball:
So for the nose, I tried a few different candies to get that signature red nose for Rudolph the Red Nose Red Reindeer.
First there was this Wild Cherry lollipop that I tried for the nose. It was the easiest as far as staying on the cheeseball. However, Rudolph the Red Nose Red Reindeer looked like Rudolph the Red Nose Troll with this huge red sucker on his face haha.
The Wild Cherry sucker stayed on best because you can wrap the lolipop stick in plastic wrap and stick it into the cheeseball.
Then I found this red Dubble Bubble gum and I think it looked much better as Rudolph’s nose. Now he just looks like Rudolph the Red Nose Christmas Mouse. haha
Just kidding, kinda 😉
I love him.
However the red gumball looked better but you’ll need to wedge it in there and add some chocolate chips under it.
I love how this fun holiday cheeseball came out.
He would be perfect right beside a bowl of Reindeer Food Snack Mix.
