Chocolate Kiss Cookies AND Giftable Cookie Dough Idea
(Printable Recipe Here)
I first got the idea of gifting cookies and cookie dough in one of my “Gifts from the Kitchen Cookbooks”, but couldn’t find the perfect recipe!
But when I stumbled across the Candy Cane Kiss Cookies recipe at www.ourbestbites.com/ , I knew I had found the right one!
I loved the Candy Cane Kisses that they used But I searched ever where in our city and I couldn’t find ANY!
So I settled for Mint Kisses and Cookie and Creme Kisses. 🙂 They were just as yummy!

Chocolate Kiss Cookies
(Printable Recipe Here)

What you need:

1/2 cup butter-flavored shortening
1/2 cup real butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 cups flour

1/4 cup AND 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder
1 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
24 Hershey’s Cookie and Creme Kisses, unwrapped
24 Hershey’s Mint Kisses, unwrapped

What to do:

Preheat your oven to 350F.

Cream together softened butter, shortening, brown sugar, and white sugar until everything is light and fluffy. It took me about 2 or 3 minutes to get everything fluffy.

Add eggs and, peppermint, vanilla and mix.
Meanwhile, combine the baking powder, baking soda, salt, flour, and cocoa powder. Add to the butter and sugar mixture and mix until combined.

Now mix in the chocolate chips.

NOW THIS IS WHERE YOU STOP IF GIVING THE COOKIE DOUGH AS A GIFT!

If giving this as a gift, divide the dough into 4 sections.

Place each section into a plastic ziplock bags.

Push the dough to the bottom and make a “log” with the dough.

Wrap the bag around the dough to form the “log” of cookie dough.

Roll the “Log” of Cookie Dough in Parchment paper and tie pretty ribbon at each end to secure it.

Now freeze this until ready to gift. (Make sure to give about 14 Hershey Kisses with each Cookie dough log and the remaining directions so that the receiving person can finish up the cookies)

If baking these yourself, follow these directions:

Drop the dough by the spoonful onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

(I used my medium Pampered Chef Scoop and it worked Perfectly!)

Bake for 8-10 minutes until the centers are set but still soft. Remove the cookies from oven and allow to cool for 1 minute.
Top each cookie with an unwrapped kiss. Transfer the cookies still on the parchment paper onto wire racks to cool.

Allow to Cool!

When I gave them as gifts I gave a Glass Jar full of baked cookies with ribbon attached and a bow…………….and a log of cookie dough and directions for baking so everyone could make more when they wanted. 🙂

I got the glass jars at Hobby Lobby and used a 40% OFF coupon from the website so each jar was about 2-3 bucks 🙂
