How to make Christmas Tree Hot Cocoa Bombs:
- Melt Almond Bark or Green Candy Melts
Melt white almond bark according to package directions. I melt it in a microwave-safe bowl in 30 second intervals until melted.
- Color Almond Bark Green
Once melted, stir in a few drops of green OIL BASED food coloring until desired color is achieved.
-
This is the oil based food coloring that I used.
- Fill Tree Mold
Using a spoon, fill each cavity of the tree mold with some of the melted green chocolate.
-
Use the back of the spoon and spread the chocolate around the center, sides and bottom of the mold. We’re just creating a shell here so the center does not need to be filled.
Make sure that the sides and bottom are coasted well.
You may need to do this 2 times to get a good shell.
Let the chocolate sit for about 15 minutes for it to harden. - Save extra melted candy
Save extra chocolate to glue half circles together later. You may need to carefully reheat this when it’s time to use it.
- Pop trees out of mold
Carefully turn silicone mold over onto a flat surface and pop trees out of mold.
Each hot chocolate bomb will need two trees. - For Simmer, add luster dust now
If you want the front of the tree to shimmer, carefully brush green luster dust over 3 of the trees.
-
This is the luster dust that I used.
- Fill the trees with hot chocolate mix
Fill 3 trees with 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate mix
- and marshmallows….
and 1 tablespoon of marshmallows each.
- “Glue” tops and bottoms together.
Top with a hollow trees and use the extra melted left over chocolate and a butter knife to “”glue” the two pieces together.
-
OR you can heat a plate with hot water, wipe it clean and then use it to melt the top seam edge and stick it to the bottom tree. If you do this, you may need some extra melted green almond bark to make sure there are no gaps.
- Let dry
Let sit about 5 minutes to harden.
- Add stars
To add a star, use star sprinkles and a little bit of melted almond bark as “glue”
- TO USE HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS:
Add 1 hot chocolate bomb to a mug and pour hot milk over it.
Stir and enjoy.
