LOVE IT? PIN IT!
Like most people that go to Disney World and Disneyland, we love Disney Dole Whips. We love them so much that one year (before they started selling them in all of the parks) we left Epcot at closing and literally ran from Epcot to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort (with the help of the monorail) to get a Dole Whip before they closed up for the night.
So what is a Dole Whip? A Dole whip is soft serve pineapple dairy-free ice cream. You can also get a plain vanilla dole whip or get the pineapple and vanilla swirled together at Disney! While they use to only sell this treat at the Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort and in Adventure Land in the Magic Kingdom, you can now find it in every park and at Disney Spring! When we went to Disney World in February 2020, we even found a Blue Cinderella Dole Whip celebrating Cinderella’s 70th Anniversary!
What is in a traditional Dole Whip and how to I make one at home?
A traditional Dole Whip at the parks is made with a pineapple powder and water combo that’s mixed together and then served through a soft serve ice cream machine.
To our surprise though, Disney released their famous Dole Whip recipe to the public in early 2020.
Everyone was super excited over getting the dole whip recipe to use in their own kitchen. I was super excited over it but IT WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT! I made it. I made the one Disney gave everyone and it was blah. Sure, it was some kind of pineapple smoothie, white drink with pineapple pieces but it WAS NOT a creamy, smooth pineapple dole whip.
So I tried again and again, changing up a few things to try to make it better only to be met with dole whip wannabe disappointment. I didn’t want to order pineapple powder because I try to make my recipes with ingredients that anyone can find, so it was time to try my no churn ice cream idea. Although I may end up ordering some anyways just to try it out!
This recipe is NOT dairy free like the original, but it taste very similar and the texture is smooth just like a real Dole Whip! (I don’t want chunks of pineapple in my dole whip)
Ohhh if only I had a soft serve ice cream machine in my life haha; but since I don’t, here is how I make Dole Whip at home.
Ps. if you want to try your hand at making Dole Whip Fudge, my friend Peabody has an amazing recipe for it on her blog!
What you’ll need to make No Churn CopyCat Disney Dole Whip :
- heavy whipping cream
- pineapple juice
- sweet condensed milk
- vanilla extract
- pineapple extract (optional)
- yellow food coloring
NOTE- You don’t have to use yellow food coloring if you don’t want to BUT if you don’t it’s going to be white.
How to make Homemade Dole Whip:
This version of a homemade Dole Whip starts off just like my other no churn ice cream recipes.
You will need an electric mixer for this recipe, but it can be a stand mixer or a hand held one.
Add the heavy cream, yellow food coloring and pineapple juice the bowl of a stand mixer. (Or pour into a large bowl and use an electric mixer).
Whip heavy cream and pineapple juice together a few minutes until stiff peaks form.
Add in the sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract and pineapple extract (if using) and whisk until combined.
Spoon mixture into a loaf pan.
Freeze for several hours or over night until frozen.
**NOTE/TIP** – a glass loaf pan will work but a metal one will freeze the ice cream better.

Can you believe I live about 6 miles from Disneyland but I’ve never tried Dole Whip? I even worked there in college (100 years ago)! Either way, thanks so much for coming up with such a delicious sounding recipe.
