Big Bear and I almost always eat dinner together. Most of the time it’s at the dinning room table but there is the occasional “dinner and a movie” night. Then there are some nights that keep me busy with work and I end up eating dinner by myself in my office as I work on articles, edit photos and write blog posts that have to get done. I have to admit that those are some of the loneliest, saddest meals ever.
I love spending time with Thomas and sitting down to eat dinner with him just happens to be one of those moments that I really, really love. We talk about the day, we talk about “family issues” that have been going on and we laugh at our puppies who are determined to guilt us into sharing our dinners with them.
It’s our time to connect and it’s when we start to wind down from the hectic busy world around us.
When I was growing up my dad enforced family dinners big time! I remember him dragging (not literally) us all into the “fancy” dinning room of their house, making us turn off the TVs, put away games and making us eat as a family. I disliked it at the time (only because I wanted to play and watch TV) but I am so thankful now that he did that. As I got older I realized that I love that “dinner family time” just as much as he did when we were growing up.
Speaking of my dad…. I also got my love of Spaghetti from him. Well, pretty much all of my pasta love came from my dad! He was always in the kitchen working on Spaghetti or Lasagna dishes when I was growing up. Any time (and I mean EVERY SINGLE TIME) I think of spaghetti, I think of my dad 🙂
My husband also loves pasta, well probably not as much as my dad and I do, but he does like it. One pasta dish that we both LOVE? Baked Spaghetti! I’ve been dreaming about baked spaghetti for the past few weeks but just hadn’t gotten around to making it. (Yes, I literally procrastinate on everything…even on making food I want to eat)
We ALWAYS have tons and tons of pasta in the house but hardly ever had any sauce! I just don’t remember to stock up on sauce like I do pasta! But when we went to the grocery store the other day I finally remembered to throw a few extra jars of Ragú pasta sauce into the buggie!
Baked Spaghetti is so quick to make and I could eat the leftovers for days! Oh and since I’ve started adding cream cheese to the sauce I’m even MORE in love with it than I was before!

Ingredients
- 1 box of spaghetti noodles (I used thin spaghetti)
- 2 large jars of Spaghetti Sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 8 ounces cream cheese
Instructions
- Pre-heat the oven to 350F.
- In a large pot of salted water, boil the spaghetti noodles for about 12 minutes or until done.Drain the noodles and set aside.
- In a medium sauce pan, heat the sauce. Add the cream cheese and stir until melted.
- Pour noodles and sauce into an oven safe dish and mix well.
- Bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove from oven and top with mozzarella cheese. Place back into the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the sauce is thick and the cheese is melted.
Tips:
Use an oven safe pot to boil the noddles and then use that pot to heat the sauce to turn this into a “one pot meal”

Have you ever added ground beef to your baked spaghetti?
Angie says
We do. Thomas loves baked spaghetti and stovetop spaghetti with beef. I like it both ways.
