If you love Christmas and The GRINCH, like my nephew does, you’re going to have to make these super adorable, Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs! Let me show you how to make them!
What you’ll need to make Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs:
- Green Chocolate Candy Melts
- hot chocolate mix powder
- dehydrated mini marshmallows or regular mini marshmallows
- Red Chocolate Candy Melts to make hearts OR large Red Heart Sprinkles
- Large Silicone Mold of half spheres
Ps. these are the dehydrated mini marshmallows that I use and I love them.
You’ll need a silicone mold like this to make the Hot Chocolate Bombs. This pack that I bought came with 3 different sizes and I use the largest one to make Hot Chocolate Bombs but you could also make smaller ones. You could also use silicon cupcake liners or regular cupcake liners to make these!
How to make Hot Chocolate Bombs:
Melt red candy melts according to package directions. I melt them in a microwave-safe bowl in 30 second intervals until melted.
Filling a plastic sandwich bag with the melted red candies, cut the tip of the bag and pipe out some red hearts onto a piece of parchment paper. You could also use large red heart sprinkles instead.
If you make them with the red candy, set them aside after piping to let them harden.
Using a spoon, fill each cavity of the mold with some of the melted chocolate.
Use the back of the spoon and spread the chocolate around the center and bottom of the mold. We’re just creating a shell here so the center does not need to be filled.
Make sure that the sides and bottom are coasted well.
Let the chocolate sit for about 15 minutes for it to harden.
Save extra chocolate to glue half circles together later. You may need to carefully reheat this when it’s time to use it.
Carefully turn silicone mold over onto a flat surface and pop chocolate out of mold.
Each hot chocolate bomb will need two half circles.
FOR HOT CHOCOLATE BOMB:
Fill 1 chocolate 1/2 circle with 1 tablespoon of hot chocolate mix and 1 tablespoon of marshmallows.
Top with a hollow chocolate 1/2 circle and use the extra melted left over chocolate and a butter knife to “”glue” the two pieces together.
Let sit about 5 minutes to harden.
Melt about 1/4 cup of green candy melts.
Then use a piping bag or a fork to drizzle melted chocolate over Hot Chocolate Bombs.
Stick a red candy heart on top before the drizzle hardens.
TO USE HOT CHOCOLATE BOMBS:
Add 1 hot chocolate bomb to a mug and pour hot milk over it.
Stir and enjoy.
I just love these! I think they are so easy to make and I think that these would be the cutest little Christmas gifts.
Ps. I personally love to add extra marshmallows to mine haha.
Other Add ins for Hot Chocolate Bombs:
- Crushed Peppermints or Candy Canes
- Chopped Andes Mints
- Colored Marshmallows
- Chocolate Chips
- Mini Chocolate Chips
