Homemade Chex Mix

So what is this that I’m hearing about microwaved chex mix? Is this a thing now? Because I can’t deal with that and I need it to stop. I’m a firm believer that chex mix need to be baked in the oven and the idea of it being made in the microwave kinda bums me out.

I mean how do you get nice toasty chex mix from the microwave? I don’t think it can happen.

Homemade Chex Mix

My mom always made Chex mix in the oven and I suppose that might be another reason that I insist that it should be made in the oven. 😉

I mean of course you can go to the store and pick up a bag of chex mix anytime, but if you make it at home you can add or leave out anything that you want!

Don’t like peanuts? Leave em out.

Love Rye Chips? Add extra.

You get what I’m saying? If you make it at home then you get to make it exactly how you want it.

Homemade Chex Mix

For example, I’m not a huge pretzel lover when it comes to Chex Mix. so when I make it for myself I don’t use quite as many pretzels. The rye chips are my favorite part of chex mix so I add a ton of those when I’m making it.

I leave out the peanuts in mine because my best friend is allergic to them and I add a lot of Worcestershire because I think that it taste really good.

Homemade Chex Mix

Christmas is over now and New Years is literally happening next week. I personally don’t want to give up Christmas yet! I mean to be honest I just got into the Christmas spirit haha I should at least be able to enjoy it for a while.

I mean really, how long is it acceptable to leave Christmas decorations up before it gets annoying?

Thomas says New Years but I almost want to challenge that haha.

Homemade Chex Mix

But speaking of New Years…I know that some of y’all are hosting parties and looking for party recipes so I wanted to get this one up.

It’s easy to make, and doesn’t cost a ton of money either. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to make “finger foods” or an appetizer for a party and it cost as much as making a main entree for the thing. I mean that’s insane.

Homemade Chex Mix

This recipe right here makes over 10 cups of chex mix which is perfect for a get together, holiday shindig or New Year’s Eve party.

It keeps well in an air-tight container and taste pretty fantastic!

Ha! I am with you completely. I am all for quick and easy sometimes, but when it comes to chex mix I want it in the oven. My family has an official chex mix roasting pan and I don’t think it would fare well in the microwave 😉

I’m fairly certain I’m the only person left on planet earth who has not made their own Chex mix…haha. This should change because just looking at your pictures has me craving some!

Chex Mix is one of my biggest weaknesses. I never would’ve guess Worcestershire sauce, but now that you mention, it, it totally makes sense!

Chex mix is SO dangerous in my hands…I can’t stop eating it. I love the rye chips, so I love extra of those. And yeah, I don’t think I’ve ever tried it from the microwave, but I would definitely miss that beautiful toasty flavor.

Chex mix in the microwave? Are you serious? Woah, where have I been, I’ve never even heard of that haha! That bums me out, too! Either way, I love your version of it – it is indeed the perfect snack for New Year’s Eve so it’s going on the list!!

PS. We leave our clear lights up all year round (the neighbors love it!) and begrudgingly take the tree down in the middle of January… yeah! I love to extend Christmas!

They’re normally near the pretzels in the grocery store and I’ve seen them on the snack section at convenient stores <3
