We have a little store downtown, called Mid-Town Market, that’s sometimes forgotten due to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  It is tucked away down a one way street between the Sutherlin Mansion (“Last Capitol of the Confederacy.”) and Grove Street Cemetery (a cemetery filled with graves from the 1800s and spotted with towering oak trees).

I love it and it seems like everyone I know loves it as well. This little downtown market opened in 1921 and sometimes when I’m down there I wish that I could stand outside its door and press the rewind button on time and see everything that’s gone on during its 94 years of business. Oh to be a fly on the wall!

They are best known for their chicken salad and oh my gosh that stuff is amazing! I hear that they sell almost 300 pounds of it a day! Now, I don’t know how true that is but I certainly believe it! It’s so good that BigBear actually bought me some for Valentine’s Day day haha.

Well, he actually bought me that, some of their homestead creamery chocolate milk and 2 gorgeous Ribeye Steaks but I would have been just as happy if he had only returned with the chicken salad. 😉

I even read an article once that the editor-in-chief of Better Homes and Gardens magazine, Gayle Butler, loves it. You do know she was raised in my hometown right? Learn something new every day! 🙂

Not only is this little market the place to be for the best chicken salad and locally grown fruits and vegetables it also has an amazing butcher counter. This is the part that I almost always forget about. I stroll through  the local grocery stores longing that “up-town fancy” butcher shop that will cut my steaks in front of my eyes and then carefully wrap each one of the Ribeyes in smooth butchers paper. That’s exactly what Mid-Town does and I still forget about it!

Something about unwrapping a beautiful steak from that taped butchers paper just makes my heart happy. haha Must be the food blogger in me. 😉 {Pssst, I’m acutally featuring a recipes with those beautiful ribeyes on the blog tomorrow so make sure you stop back by to pick that up!}

Recently our favorite little landmark and legendary chicken salad made it into the Paula Deen Magazine! Haha I had someone ask me the other day if I was the one that told Paula Deen about MidTown’s Chicken salad when Crystal and I went down to her launch party but I can’t take the credit for this one haha. Midtown’s Chicken salad is just that dang good that it didn’t an introduction.

The Paula Deen magazine wrote an article on “The 10 best chicken salad recipes in the country” and little ol’ Danville made the list! <3

I am totally aware that this had nothing to do with Mint Chocolate Chip Dip but I had to take a minute to brag about my little city. It’s the little things y’all!

But quickly, before we get to the recipe for this Mint Chocolate Chip Dip with Mint Chocolate Chip Brownie Brittle let’s take a look, shall we?!

This is totally a sweet dessert type dip and it’s one that you’re going to love. Now remember, mint is a strong flavor. Some people want tons and tons of mint and some just want a little hint, so keep that in mind when you make this. You may want to add more mint or not add as much.

However, serve this dip with the Mint Chocolate Chip Brownie Brittle and you really won’t have to worry about not having enough mint flavor because the brownie brittle had mint in it too!

Want to serve this on  St. Patrick’s Day and need it to be green? Add a few dashes of green food coloring and it’ll be perfect!
