Something magical happens when you get 5 or 6 bloggers together for a meal haha. You always end up at a great place, you may only order one dish but you’re gonna get to taste them all haha and you’re not the only one looking for the perfect shot with their camera/phone.
Cathy, Noble Pig, actually discovered Swine Southern Table & Bar online and I called down there a few days before the trip and made our reservations for lunch.
We drove over and got there around 11:30; we made it before the lunch rush and picked the first table, mainly because it had good natural light for photos. (I told you…. a lunch date with food bloggers) 😉
I was totally in love with their tables as well as pretty much all of the decor!
So, What did we order?
Some of the best southern food that I’ve had in a while (at a restaurant that is haha). When we first got here I was just kind of like “Umm, Well this will be good food but it’s stuff that we eat anyways.” (Being from the south and all)
Well it was “normal southern food” but it was way beyond amazing; It was the food we have at home with top notch flavors. Oh how I wish I was back there right now!
1855 Black Angus Burnt Ends — fried cornbread, kansas city molasses mop, watercress |
We started our lunch with the “1855 Black Angus Burnt Ends” – Brisket with Fried cornbread, Kansas city molasses mop and watercress. The Brisket had a nice smokey crust on it but when I had a bite it was so wonderfully tender that it just melted in my mouth. And that sauce in the bottom of the skillet was just amazing! I would eat that sauce on anything; the fried grits that came on top were perfect for dipping in the sauce.
Fried Green Tomato — winter park, fl tomme, pea shoots, tomato chow chow |
Our second choice of appetizer? Fried Green Tomatoes of course! Swine made them perfect; they were tender and delicious with a nice crisp bite.
Crispy Pork Caesar — crisp lettuce, smoked crispy pork shoulder, aged cheddar, white anchovy, bacon dressing |
Next, we actually got to the meal part of lunch 😉 I literally can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed the dishes at Swine Southern Table & Bar. For my lunch, I ordered the Crispy Pork Caesar!
I knew that I would be trying everyone’s dish and that were were still going to have dessert so I didn’t want anything too heavy for my main meal.
The crispy pork sat on top of a small pile of lettuce and was sprinkled with aged cheddar, anchovies, and a wonderful bacon dressing! While I couldn’t really get into eating the little anchovies I did enjoy the rest of the salad.
Shrimp and Grits: spiced florida pink shrimp, crisp virginia ham, adluh south carolina stone ground grits |
The Shrimp and Grits ranks pretty high on my list at Swine Southern Table & Bar! Lindsay (Life Love and Sugar) ordered this and was gracious enough to share! Had I gotten the Shrimp and Grits at Swine I’m not sure if I would have wanted to share! These Shrimp and Grits would fit perfect in any southern dinner table!
Mac & Cheese — ‘pig tail’ macaroni, bacon, 5 cheeses, crispy crust |
So I’ve told you about two items that I really, really liked but let me tell you about the star of our lunch! This Mac & Cheese is on the “Fixins” Menu (side menu) and I just knew that I had to get it. I LOVE mac and cheese, I could literally eat it all the time.
The five cheeses blended perfectly into mouth watering, creamy, cheesy perfection. If you ever go to Miami you will totally regret it if you don’t stop into Swine and at least oder their mac and cheese!
(Ps. Can someone PLEASE find me some cute little square cast iron skillets like that! I want them!)
Who’s got room for dessert? By this time I wasn’t sure if I did but those Cookie and Milk were calling my name!
Cookies & Milk white chocolate stuffed homemade oreos, ice cold bourbon-spiked milk, dark chocolate dipping sauce. |
This is how they arrived! Aren’t they beautiful!!! I just have to recreate these at home!
The filling tasted EXACTLY like Oreo filling! There was even a tiny little glass of bourbon-spiked milk for us to dip the cookies in!
We also tried the Warm Sticky Icky Bun (maple-bourbon toffee syrup, pecan cream cheese, candied smoked bacon, sweet potato “pie” ice cream) and The Swine Shake (salted caramel ice cream, left hand milk stout, candied bacon) but the Homemade Oreos won me over!
I’m telling ya, if ya’ll are ever down in the Miami area you’re gonna want to swing into Swine Southern Table & Bar for lunch…. or at least for dessert!!

Sounds like fun. Have you found the square frying pans yet? If you haven’t, Crate and Barrel carries the 5″ Lodge sandwich pans which look like the ones in the photo.
