What an interesting week. Good, but busy.

I missed #SundaySupper this week because I knew the weekend was going to be super busy. But if you’re in need of some great shower/party recipe you really should check it out. My friend Melanie from A Beautiful Bite joined #SundaySupper this past week too! YAY! Her Shortbread Maple Cream Freezer Tart was beautiful!  I will have a #SundaySupper post up this week! Chocolate Dipped Madeleines are coming your way!

Last Friday, Mom and I drove down to Raleigh for Jennie’s book signing! I’m sure you already know this but Jennie has a wonderful blog called “In Jennie’s Kitchen” and her new (and wonderful) cookbook just came out recently! When I heard that she was going to be in NC for a book signing, I just knew that we had to go down. I do believe that we drove through like 4 tornado warnings and some crazy wind and rain to get there, but we arrived safe and sound. Listing to her talk about her book, her girls and Mikey made my heart love her and her book even more.

Saturday morning was filled with boxes and moving trucks as we moved my sister in law into her new apartment in NC. Saturday was also filled with some sad news. We woke up that morning to the news that my adopted grandmother had passed away. She was 94 years old and has lived a wonderfully long life. I’ll miss her though 🙁

On Sunday, Thomas and I spent sometime with our cousins, Crystal, Levi and their little ones. Crystal and I worked on some more necklace ideas and did a little crafting together.

I made a few necklaces before and showed them off on my facebook page for BigBearsWife. I got a ton of love on them from there and from Instagram. Lots and lots of people were asking me if I sold them. As of right now, I don’t BUT I might open a shop soon. I’ve been debating it since I made my first Snow White bottle necklace.

Anyways, on Sunday night we went to try out a new restaurants in NC. (new to us anyways). It’s called The Celtic Fringe. Thomas was a little worried about it being weird and such. He said he pictured giant men waiters with kilts on and shamrocks all over the walls. haha. That made me laugh a little.

It however turned out to be an amazing place. Thomas got the bangers and mash and I had the lamb stew. It was oh so good! We finished the night off with creme brulee and a chocolate flourless torte. That was the first time I had ever have a chocolate flourless torte, but oh man am I hooked on them now! Just yesterday I saw on on the menu at a local lunch spot and just HAD to have it. I really need to look into making them!
I found a few recipes… we’ll see if I can squeeze in the time to make one this weekend.

Flourless Chocolate Torte with Blackberry Coulis from The Kitchen Paper
Flourless Chocolate Torte from Kirantarun.com
La Bete Noire Flourless Chocolate Torte from Simply So Good

I’ve also been working on our better eating (please don’t judge me! I needed that chocolate torte haha).

So I’ve been checking out all of my favorite blogs for inspiration. A few nights ago, we had Roasted Chicken with Vegetables, a recipe from My Blessed Life. The only things I did different were: I used chicken breast, I used Coconut Oil in place of butter, bumped the temp down to 350F, cooked it for 40-45 minutes. I also added mushroom to it 🙂

And one last thing. I’m getting a very small dose of parenthood this week and for a few more weeks actually. Our 4 year old niece is staying with us for a few weeks while she finished school here in VA 🙂 So I may not be posting as much, or if I am I have a feeling there will be a lot of little Savannah hands in my photos haha 😉

Meet Angie

I love the Farmer’s Market and Farm to Table meals but I’m also not ashamed to use canned vegetables and baking mixes. It’s all about balance! I’m so glad y’all are here!
