There is no denying that Swiss Roll chocolate snack cakes are delicious, but they’re even better when they’re decorated to look like Swiss Roll Bats for Halloween!
These DIY Pre-Packaged Swiss Roll Bats would be great as a pre-packaged Halloween snack for school parties and fun to hand out to trick or treaters (if you didn’t have a tons to make). They would equally as cute to give to friends and family that were coming over for a Halloween dinner.
These DIY Prepackaged Swiss Roll Bats were inspired by the Chocolate Sack Cake Bats over on Hungry Happenings and a conversation I had with my cousin, Crystal, about Halloween treats for school one year. She is a great baker and treat maker but the school required pre-packaged treats for the Halloween parties.
So I decided to work on some ideas this year and came up with this Halloween Bat craft that included those tasty chocolate snack cakes to create this batty Halloween treat.
These little bats are great to hand out to trick or treaters, package up to send to a school or community event or just make with the kids at home. My little boy things these are the cutest and I love putting them in his snack basket around Halloween.
What you’ll need for DIY Pre-Packaged Swiss Roll Bats:
- Wrapped Chocolate Snack Cakes (like Swiss Rolls)
- Black Card stock or Construction paper
- googly eyes (I found the colored ones at Dollar Tree)
- pencil
- scissors
- tape (not pictured)
Making DIY Pre-Packaged Swiss Roll Bats:
These are so easy to make.
I used a plastic bat from the Dollar Tree as a guide and traced around it with a pencil onto some black card stock.
Then I placed the Swiss Roll in the middle, traced around it to make a head and added some triangle ears.
Next step is to just cut out the bat.
Fold the wings in a bit, you can place the snack cake back into the bat to use it as a guide to fold the wings.
Then just tape the snack cake onto the bat with a few pieces of rolled tape.
After that, just attach the eyes with glue dots or tape.
Watch out for those sneaky baby hand though! They’ll try to snatch these Halloween bats right out from under your nose!
You can also add a little piece of tape to the bat wings to keep them closed 🙂
