This Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Pasta is a “toss together, stir and cook” type of recipe. Everything is cooked in the Instant Pot, but I love to broil the cheese in the oven to finish it off!
LOVE IT? PIN IT!
Who else got an Instant Pot for Christmas? Thomas (my husband) bought me one and I’ve been using it almost every day since I unwrapped in on Christmas Eve! To be honest, I thought that this would be one of those “Use every so often” types of appliances that we’d all been known to buy but we’ve gotten a lot of use out of it already!
So far I’ve used it to make, Lasagna Pasta, Pork Loins, Hard Boiled Eggs (all the time!!!), venison tenderloins, chicken wings and vegetable soup. Ooo and Potato soup is on the menu for tonight, so we’ll see how that turns out.
“….we’ve already made this pasta 3 times and I’ve made 2 more variations of it too!”
I’ve actually made this Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Pasta 3 times already, it’s just that darn easy to make and it makes enough for us to have left overs in the fridge for lunch and dinner the next day.
This Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Pasta is a recipe that I adapted from the Instant Pot Cookbook that my mom got me for Christmas. It’s one of the first recipes that I made in my Instant Pot! Since then, I also switched it up and made a ham & pepperoni Instant Pot Lasagna as well, which might make an appearance on the blog at some point.
Y’all, I just can’t get over how much I love making pasta dishes in the Instant Pot! Side Note – this Instant Pot fettuccine Alfredo is amazing!
You might be asking, why I used Bow Tie Pasta in this recipe instead of Lasagna Noodles. Well this answer is simple, there we’re any! That’s right, none to be found!
When we first decided to make this Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Pasta, we went to the store in search of everything we needed. Two stores and no lasagna noodles. Everyone must have been making lasagna for the Holidays because the shelves where empty.
That’s when I decided on Bow Tie Pasta. It’s got the little ruffled ends like lasagna and I could mix it into the recipe in the Instant Pot without having to break it up. I also remembered my Skillet Lasagna recipe also uses Bow Tie Pasta, so I knew it would work perfectly.
Now I’ll also say that the last step of the recipe is totally optional but I prefer it this way. When you get done with your Easy Instant Pot Lasagna Pasta in the Instant Pot, you can serve it as is, OR toss it into a baking dish, top it with mozzarella cheese and stick it under the broiler in your oven for a few minutes to melt the cheesy on top! I think that this makes it feel way more like lasagna!
- I use a 6 quart Instant Pot for all of my Instant Pot recipes.
- I used Bow Tie Pasta but you can use any type of pasta that you want to use
- It’s delicious the day you make it, but I think it’s even better when reheated the next day and it stands up like a slice and serve lasagna after being in the fridge
- You don’t have to put it under the broiler to finish it but we love it that way
- When you first take the lid off of the Instant Pot when it’s done cooking, you’re going to think there is too much liquid! Don’t worry, after you stir in the ricotta and mozzarella cheese and place everything under the broiler it will thicken.
- The pasta dish might look curdled as you’re stirring in the ricotta cheese, don’t worry, that’s just how it looks when you’re stirring it in.

Can this be done in a crockpot??
Angie says
It probably can but I don’t know what temp or time to give you because I’ve only tested this particular recipe in the Instant Pot 🙂
Tina says
Hi if half thus recipe will still work
Angie says
It’ll probably be fine. I can’t say 100% though because I haven’t cut the recipe in half before and tried it that way.
AgateAnne says
I made a half recipe this evening and it worked out just fine. I used Radiatore noodles. (they are squiggly). My husband said dinner was good! Thank for this fine recipe!
Nicole says
I’m making this right now and it seems to be taking forever to come to pressure! Hope it will still be OK.
Angie says
Waiting for the Instant Pot to come to pressure does feel like it takes forever! That was one thing I wasn’t prepared for when I started cooking with mine.
Nicole says
Pot finally came to pressure. Excellent recipe – Delicious!
Angie says
YAY! So glad that you liked the recipe!
Tara says
Any advice on using whole wheat pasta?
Angie says
I don’t have a lot of experience with whole wheat pasta but on a lot of things I’ve read it seems like both versions can prepared the same way and you can use them interchangeably in recipes.
Sandy L. says
I made it with whole wheat pasta and ground turkey, and it was delicious!
Angie says
oo so happy to hear that!

Angie says
16 ounces by weight – a box of bow tie pasta is normally 16 oz or right around 16 oz

Oh my goodness! This was delish! We were camping and we were tired of hotdogs and hamburgers and my husband said, “I sure would like some lasagna!” I had brought my instant pot with us to boil some eggs but thought I bet there is a recipe for instant pot lasagna because what can’t the IP do??? I googled instant pot lasagna and this popped up! my hubby ran to the little grocery store in town and got all the ingredients and I got busy with it and in 20 minutes we had lASAGNA!!! It was so delish!! We didn’t have an oven to broil it in so I piled the top cheese and set the IP back on high pressure for 1 minute to melt cheese and it was perfection! After it had cooled off a bit all the sauce has thickened and it was just like it had been baked! Thank you so much for the recipe!!!!
Angie says
Awesome! I’m so glad that you liked it! What a great idea to take the IP camping!
Sandie says
Has anyone yet tried this recipe using oven ready lasagna?
Matt W says
Yes! made this with 9 “Oven Ready” lasagna noodles, broken in half. Just placed them into the sauce mix and tried to space them out somewhat evenly. I only added one cup of water, but used turkey meat and didn’t drain it after browning. Also used a 24 oz jar of spaghetti sauce and a 14.5 oz can of diced tomatoes. Added half of the ricotta and mozzarella PRIOR to pressure cooking for 5 minutes. After it finished, I let it cool at pressure for 10 – 15 minutes, then quick released the rest of the way. Then dumped the whole thing into a 10×15 glass dish, topped with more ricotta and the rest of the mozz and some parmesan and baked at 400 in the oven for another 10-15 minutes till it was nicely browned…
This was my FIRST EVER thing I made in my Instant Pot and it was a HUGE hit!
Casey says
Are you using the 6QT IP?
Angie says
Yes. I use a 6 quart Instant Pot for all of my Instant Pot recipes.
Allisha says
So, how do you prevent it from burning on the bottom? Unfortunately, my noodles weren’t cooked and I had to add 4 more minutes. I dont know if this is why the bottom blacken. Any suggestions? Was very tasty minus the elbow grease to cleanup ????
Angie says
Hum… I’m not sure. I haven’t had it blacken on the bottom yet but I have heard of people having that problem with tomato based recipes. I think I’ve just gotten lucky.
Bella Mater says
What’s “normal” on the sauté setting? Mine says low, medium, or high…
Angie says
Mine says, “Less, Normal and More. So It looks like normal is Medium 🙂
Lg says
Not good. Lasagna soup anyone?
Angie says
It doesn’t turn into Lasagna soup? How long did you cook it? Sorry it didn’t turn out good for you. 🙁 It’s amazing, hope you’ll try it again. We make it a lot and haven’t had it turn into soup. Although Lasagna soup sounds good hahaha
Beth says
Wonder if i could use frozen ravioli instead of adding the cottage cheese at the end?
Angie says
Do you mean ricotta cheese? There is no cottage cheese in this recipe.
Amber says
I made this for my family the first time a couple months ago, it was one of the first things I made in my IP and my husband said he liked it better than traditional lasagna! Turned out perfect!
Joanie says
I’ve made this recipe 3 different times in the last month and it’s been amazing every time. I’ve used both rotelle noodles and bow ties and both worked wonderfully. I’ve done ground beef, ground turkey, and frozen mini Italian meatballs, and all have been delicious. I’ve never bothered with broiling and it’s been perfect without it. I do add the ricotta to the pot before cooking though so it gets a chance to melt and cook into everything. I just stir everything together and drop the entire container on top before closing up to avoid it burning on the bottom. Then I mix in the shredded cheese (used an Italian blend and some cheddar). Yum! Thanks for such an easy (and versatile!) recipe!
Angie says
Hi Joanie! I’m so glad that you like the recipe! I love the idea of adding the frozen mini Italian meatballs! I’ll have to try that!
Lauryn R says
This sounds (and looks) absolutely delicious! I love lasagne and this sounds so easy, and quick! I think I like the bow tie pasta better, actually. Thank you so much for sharing!
