How To Make Evil Dragon Deviled Eggs:
-
So we’re making these like my traditional southern deviled eggs but with a fun Halloween twist!
-
Let’s start by cooking the eggs! This is how I cook mine and they come out perfect every time!
-
Place eggs into a sauce pan, in a single layer. Cover with water. Bring to a boil. Once the water is boiling, put a lid on the pot and remove from the heat.
Set a timer for 12 minutes. -
Once 12 minutes is up, place the pan under cold running water and run cold water over the eggs for about a minute or until they are cool enough to handle.
-
Now it’s time for the “dragon egg” part.
-
Gently crack each egg shell on the side of the pan or counter. Don’t crack too much, just enough for there to be cracks running around the egg.
-
Put 6 eggs in a gallon size ziplock bag with about 1/4 cup water and some green food coloring. Close the bag and gently move it around so the green covers the eggs.
You just want enough water to kind of help the food coloring get into the cracks of the eggs -
Next, put 6 eggs in a gallon size ziplock bag with about 1/4 cup water and some purple food coloring. Close the bag and gently move it around so the purple covers the eggs.
-
Place the bags in the fridge for at least 4-6 hours or overnight.
-
After the color has had time to dye the eggs, carefully peel the egg shells from the eggs.
-
Rinse them with cold water. Gently pat each one dry with a paper towel.
-
Cut each egg in half lengthwise.
-
Scoop out the cooked yolk out and place into a bowl. (do this to each egg)
-
Use a fork to mash the cooked yolks.
-
In the bowl with the cooked yolks, add the mayonnaise and yellow mustard. Mix well. Add the pickle juice, paprika and pepper. Mix well.
-
Taste and adjust the taste to your liking.
-
Fill egg halves with egg yolk mixture.
I like to fill a plastic piping bag (or zip lock bag) fitted with a decorative tip to pipe my filling into the egg centers!
Where Can I Find That Amazing Dragon Eye That Is In The Center Of The Deviled Eggs?
I actually found that at the Dollar Tree! I think they’re suppose to be those eyes that you stick to your front door to make a monster or stick in a bush to make it look spooky but the fit perfectly into the center circle of the deviled egg tray, also from Dollar Tree. haha
