Happy Sunday Y’all! It’s Super Bowl Sunday….which totally means nothing to me haha but I know that some of y’all are going crazy today!
I’ve got something pretty awesome for y’all today (well, it’s totally 100% awesome in my opinion!)! BigBear (my husband, Thomas) is going a guest post for me today! He made these Frisco Breakfast Sandwiches for us yesterday morning and wanted to share them with everyone! They were freakin’ awesome! So I’m giving the blog over to him today!
Good Morning Ya’ll! This is Big Bear doing a guest post, finally!!
Well I guess you can say that I’ve been apart of all aspects of the blog behind the scenes for the last six years, but this is my first attempt at the “hard part”….. what to say about food, other than “Look at the pictures”,” they look awesome”, “fix me and eat me”.
So that all being said, today’s post is all about breakfast — my first favorite meal followed by lunch and then dinner ha ha.
These are a copy cat of the Frisco breakfast sandwiches that are sold by Hardee’s.
I remember when these were first released, my father and I would go get breakfast on the weekends and this was an instant favorite of mine. Since they have been around forever it seems like it is a staple of mine for when I’m running late in the morning and need breakfast.
Now as we all know, my darling wife is not a morning person, she never has and never will, except for when we’re on vacation she’s up before me. After we were married I introduced this to her and it became an instant classic for her as well.
So all of those that follow us (Big Bear’s Wife) on Facebook and Instagram may have already seen a sneak peak of this on our social media accounts!
Angie said it already (over on Instagram) but it was my idea to make an extra sandwich this morning for pictures so that I could finally get this delicious creation on the blog!
And here we go ladies and gentleman — boys and girls of all ages may I present to you Big Bear’s Frisco Breakfast sandwich.
Enjoy and we look forward till the next time.
Frisco Breakfast Sandwich
Frisco Breakfast Sandwich
We love the Frisco Breakfast Sandwich from Hardee's so we decided to recreate it at home! This is our copycat Frisco Breakfast Sandwich!
Ingredients
- 2 slices sourdough bread
- 2 slices of sharp cheddar cheese
- 2 slices of thin sliced mozzarella cheese
- 2 oz honey smoked ham
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
First, toast the bread. Place a little butter in a frying pan on med/low heat and place the bread into the melted butter.
This takes about 30-45 seconds so careful not to burn the toast.
Once the bread has toasted place it face down on your plate and place the cheese on to it.
I normally put one type on top and the other on the bottom of the sandwich.
Now place the ham on top of these cheese. The type of ham I used had a 2 oz serving size which was roughly 6 slices.
Now take the other tablespoon of butter and heat the skillet on med/low ( I used cast iron) so I was on the low side.
Pour the eggs into the skillet like your going to make an omelet not like scrambled eggs.
Once the eggs have firmed up around the edges start working it loose from the pan and flip.
Now fold the eggs into a rectangle (or square) and place on top of the ham.
Add the 2nd piece of toasted bread to close the sandwich.
The heat from the eggs should melt the cheese.
Notes
We like to serve these with any type of hash brown or tater-tot. - This Breakfast Loaded Tater Tot Casserole is really good!
I love it when BigBear gets excited about the blog and I love it when he surprises me with fantastic meals like this Frisco Breakfast Sandwich! Love this breakfast sandwich! We love breakfast too, and now I can make one of Hardee’s yummy sandwiches without driving 30 minutes to get to a Hardee’s!
I could eat this for breakfast, lunch or dinner! I’m sending this to my husband as a hint. 🙂
Gosh my next goal is to make breakfast and other sandwiches look as good as yours look. Delicious!

Hey Thomas, nice to virtually meet you. I love your wife, she’s such a riot to hang out with at conferences. I saw the photo on instagram with the pup and cracked up. Could totally see our Malia photobombing hubs like that. This a great breakfast sandwich. My guys would go wacky for this.
A good man cooks for his gal…Love it! We don’t have Hardees where I am however this sounds good, AND the pic with your “vulture” staring you down…hahahahaha!
I haven’t been to a Hardee’s since high school. I could eat this sandwich every single day! And your dog…..sooo cute! Congrats to your guest poster!
Love this!! Great job Big Bear! Now, if I could just have this for breakfast tomorrow….
Oh it is so nice to finally meet you, Big Bear 🙂 How sweet if you to make this delicious awesome sandwich for Angie. Awesome!!!
I just wanna reach over through my screen and bite into that sammich! And that last picture is hilarious!! The song is going to be stuck in my head for days!
Okay, when I saw the title, I was sincerely hoping that these were the Frisco sandwiches you were talking about! I’d forgotten all about them, but once upon a time, I lived near a Hardee’s and these were my favorite thing to grab on my way to work in the morning. Sigh…nostalgia. This look amazing, and my mouth is watering beyond compare. Guess who’s hitting up the grocery store later?
Great looking breakfast sandwich and how fun to hear from Big Bear!
I need my husband to make a Frisco sandwich for me and then serve it to me in bed too!
Big Bear, you did a fantastic job, and your sandwich looks amazing! I sure do wish I had all the ingredients on hand because I’d be in the kitchen right now making this sandwich for breakfast! Pinning your creation 🙂
Wow! Looks like a fab, filling breakfast sandwich! Yum!
This looks great! Pinned to share with others!
I love everything about this post! How sweet is it that Big Bear guest posted (and breakfast in bed? and making an extra for photos?? the sweetest) I’ve never been to a Hardees but this sandwich looks totally awesome. I’m loving all that cheese!
Yay! #BigBearintheKitchen!! Y’all are so cute. My very first job was at Hardee’s. I was super bummed when the closed all of them in Michigan. Now I can make my own Frisco! I’ve totally be holding out on my husband.
Welcome to the blog Big Bear! We do not have Hardees here in NY but I remember going to one when I was a kid and we were down in Georgia. This whole breakfast looks fantastic. I wonder if I show my husband this post he will get the hint I want breakfast in bed…
That picture with your puppy and Big Bear is absolutely amazing!
Which cheese combo did y’all like better – the swiss & american cheeses that come on the original Frisco Breakfast sandwich, or the mozzarella & sharp cheddar that Big Bear used on his creation??
I love them both and I don’t know if I have a preference haha.
My daughter LOVES these friscos from hardees. Now I can make them at home!? Yey! I have a question.. can I freeze these and reheat in bulk? Haha
Hi Brianna!
I haven’t tired freeze this exact sandwich but I have frozen similar ones in the past and reheated them! I will say that I think they are better fresh and the bread is a little less crispy after being frozen but it is totally doable!
I’m going to try it your way because I love mozzarella cheese but the actual Hardee’s Frisco breakfast sandwiches have American and swiss!! No cheddar or mozzarella
We used the cheese that we like to eat.
