Guitar Cake

This weekend was my god-daughters 6th birthday! 6th!!

I can’t believe she is already 6, wow how time flies. For the past 4 years, Alyssa has wanted nothing but Princess Birthday parties. Princess….. ok after 4 years I’m pretty sure her mom and I were a bit run out on Princess Parties haha, so lucky us… this year she wanted Hannah Montana… thank you Jesus no princess party haha.

So I made the cake this year too.

Last year I made her Tiana Princess and the Frog Cake 🙂 I am obviously not a cake maker lol, good cake decorator or anything lol, but hey for homemade cakes, I think I do ok. lol

So this is my First Guitar Cake 🙂

Just wanted to share the pictures and steps for making it.

Step 1: Bake your favorite Cake Flavor and let it Cool. I made a white cake, but took some of the batter and turned it blue and some to purple with Food Coloring, and swirled it like marble cake 🙂

Step 2: I printed out an outline of a guitar I found on google. Cut out your design and lay it on the cake. Using a sharp knife carve the shape of your cake using the paper outline as a guide.

Look at the cute Swirled Colors!

Step 3: Using your favorite white icing, ice a “crumb coat” over the entire cake. A crumb coat is the first layer you should put on a cake. This coat of icing covers the cake, and prevents the crumbs from the cake from coming through on the finished layer of icing. Chill your cake with the crumb coat for a few hours or overnight.

Step 4: Once you take your crumb coated cake from the fridge, icing your cake with your choice of icing. I used Purple since I was doing a Hannah Montana Theme Guitar Cake.

Step:5 Once I have the whole cake iced, I take a knife and dip it in hot hot water. Wipe the water from the knife and go over the whole cake just like you were icing the cake again to smooth out the frosting.

Step 6: Decorate your cake, add details and names etc.

Meet Angie

I love the Farmer’s Market and Farm to Table meals but I’m also not ashamed to use canned vegetables and baking mixes. It’s all about balance! I’m so glad y’all are here!
