Dear Chocolate, It’s not you, it’s me.
Ok, well… I guess to be honest it is you and my metabolism. I can not enjoy you like I could before. But just because I can’t eat chocolate everyday doesn’t mean I can’t make it for my friends and family right? Right 🙂
3 Musketeers are pretty much my favorite candy bar. Yes, I do go through phases and I may fall in love with a Reese Cup or a Milky Way. But the 3 Musketeer has my heart. My mom’s too. They are her favorite.
When I saw the recipes for them on Pinterest, I had to take a look. Most of the recipes had quite a long list of ingredients…. recipes that I’d surely screw up. I am no candy maker. But then I found one that only had 3 ingredients. Well, if I mess that up, I might as well throw in the towel. After showing the Homemade 3 Musketeer Bars from Monster Mama to Big Bear, he decided that he was suddenly headed to the store anyways and would gladly pick up these items for me. Who knew that Big Bear loved 3 Musketeer Bars… ya learn something new everyday. haha
So while I did sneak a few bites to taste them, I did carry most of these off to my mom and left a few for Big Bear to snack on. Take that 3 Musketeer Bars!
They were mighty good, but I do recommend letting them sit in the fridge for a day or two before serving them. It seemed like the longer they were in the fridge the better they became. OH and I liked mine at room temperature. I’d keep them in the fridge so they don’t go bad, if you’re worried about that, but I didn’t really like them cold. Tasted a whole lot more like real 3 Musketeer Bars when at room temperature.
**I used a Silicon Heart Mold that I got from Target for $2.50, from their Dollar Section, if you’re not using a mold, just pour the mixture into a square pan lined with parchment paper before freezing**
What you need:
What to do:
In a microwave safe bowl, melt the semi sweet choc chips in microwave. Melt them in 30 second intervals, string after each cycle. Don’t burn the chocolate!
Set the melted chocolate aside for a few minutes and let it some to room temperature. (not long enough to harder though)
In the bowl of a stand mixer, add the melted chocolate and beat for about 30 seconds. Add in the thawed cool whip and beat for 1 minute, until fluffy.
Spoon into a heart silicone mold. **I used a Silicon Heart Mold that I got from Target for $2.50, from their “Dollar” Section, if you’re not using a mold, just pour the mixture into a square pan lined with parchment paper**
Place into the freezer for 2 hours.
After 2 hours, melt candy wafers by following the package directions.
Remove the frozen mixture from the mold and dip into melted chocolate.
Place the chocolate covered hearts onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
** If you’re using a square dish to make these and not the molds, remove the frozen mixture from the square dish and cut into squares. Taking 1 nugget at a time, dip into the melted candy chocolate wafers to coat. Place the chocolate covered nuggets onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Allow the candy bar’s outer layer of chocolate to harden. Drizzle melted chocolate over them and let harden.
Homemade 3 Musketeer Bars!
**keep in an air-tight container in the fridge or freezer!*
WOW, these are adorable, look so good and quick to make. Thanks!
