There is just something so satisfying and wonderful about the smell of homemade bread baking in the oven. While some bread recipes can seem scary to home bakers, this beer bread is not a recipe to be afraid of!
This quick bread recipe only takes 4 ingredients and about an hour to bake. No need for packets of yeast, no proofing time and no stress!

If you don’t have self-rising flour, don’t worry! It’s easy to make.

- 1/4 teaspoon salt
So for this particular recipe, to make self rising flour, you’ll need:

.
What beer should I use to make homemade beer bread?
I almost always use Budweiser to make beer bread when I’m making it from scratch. I don’t drink beer, so it’s not a taste preference, it’s just what I started using when I first making this recipe 10 years ago so it’s my “go-to” for beer bread out of habit.
However, I’ve always heard that Brown ale and lagers are great for beer bread but that light beers and corona beer should be avoided. I’m not sure how true that is because I’ve known people to make beer bread with light beers.
So, maybe try it out? Maybe I’ll give the light beer a try soon and see if it does alright.
Baking time:
This Quick Beer Bread only needs 1 hour in the oven! Once it bakes, just take it out and let it cool on a wire rack.
Slice it up and serve it plain, with butter or along side your favorite meal!
Serve this Beer Bread with:
- French Tomato Pumpkin Soup
- Chicken and Vegetable Noodle Soup
