A few years ago I made a Creamed Corn Macaroni and Cheese for Thanksgiving and I absolutely fell in love with it. So this year, I thought that I would combine my favorite recipe for Homemade Skillet Creamed Corn with some cheese sauce for a fun new side dish this year.

How to make cheesy creamed corn:

If using frozen corn, make sure to steam frozen corn according to package directions.

Add butter to a large skillet and melt over medium heat.

Whisk in flour, sugar, salt and water until combined and smooth. Add in corn.

Cook over medium heat for 25-30 minutes, until creamed corn has thickened.

Remove from heat.

Stir in cheese sauce.

I like to use the pouches of the Velveeta Cheese Sauce.
Nope. I just have those directions in there for the frozen corn so that it is not frozen when being added to the skillet.

Homemade Cheesy Creamed Corn - Homemade creamed corn with a cheesy sauce that is the perfect side dish. Perfect for Thanksgiving or Sunday Dinner
Ingredients
- 3 bags (10.8 ounces each) frozen corn*
- 8 tablespoons butter
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 4 teaspoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 3 cups water
- 8 ounces smooth cheese sauce
Instructions
Steam frozen corn according to package directions.
Add butter to a large skillet and melt over medium heat.
Whisk in flour, sugar, salt and water until combined and smooth.
Add in corn.
Cook over medium heat for 25-30 minutes, until creamed corn has thickened.
Remove from heat.
Stir in cheese sauce.
Serve hot.
Notes
*you can also use 3 cans of corn, drained or 8-10 ears or corn kernels
