Another beautiful day this week means another fun #BrunchWeek post! Monday I posted a fantastically fun recipe for Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Stuffed Muffins to kick off #BrunchWeek and today it’s all about healthy Overnight Oats 3 Ways!
I’m going to show you how to make these easy Overnight Oats and I’m giving you three different flavor combos to start off with!
What kind of oats do I use for Overnight Oats?
Rolled Oats!
They soften nicely and they’re super easy to find. You probably already have them in the pantry if you have one of those big containers of loose oatmeal. 😉
I just call it oatmeal but if you’re looking for it at the store it’ll normally say “Old Fashioned Rolled Oats” in the canister.
I’ve got the recipes and measurements for all of this below, but this is just a quick run down of what is in each of these overnight oat flavors!
Blueberry Vanilla Overnight Oats:
What you’ll need:
- rolled oats
- cup milk, any kind (I use Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk in mine)
- honey
- vanilla extract
- frozen blueberries
- chia seeds (optional)
- flax seeds (optional)
I really love to use frozen fruit when I made Overnight Oats. It will defrost overnight in the fridge while the oatmeal is setting and I always have tons of frozen fruit in the deep freezer ready to go.
I haven’t made this with fresh blueberries but if you give it a try with fresh ones let me know how it turns out.
Strawberry Honey Overnight Oats:
What you’ll need:
- rolled oats
- milk, any kind (I used Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk)
- honey
- chia seeds
- frozen strawberries
- freeze dried strawberries (optional for topping)
I use two different kind of strawberries when I make Strawberry Honey Overnight Oats.
I use crushed/chopped frozen strawberries mixed in with the oatmeal and then before I eat it I sprinkle the top with freeze dried strawberries. I love the pop and crunch that the freeze dried strawberries give the oatmeal but you can leave those off if you want it.
Fresh strawberries on top out be just as tasty.
Peaches and Cream Overnight Oats:
What you’ll need:
- rolled oats
- 1/2 cup milk, any kind (I use Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk in mine)
- 2 tablespoons Vanilla Yogurt
- 4 -6 slices canned or frozen peaches, chopped
- 1 1/2 teaspoons peach syrup (I used Torani – Peach Syrup)
While I normally use frozen fruit for overnight oats, I really love canned peaches and I use them for Peaches and Cream Overnight oats. I like to get the ones in very light syrup or the ones that are just in juice. Canned peaches bring back childhood memories for me so I think that’s why I like to use them but frozen peaches also work perfectly in this recipe.
For the Peaches and Cream Overnight Oats I also started using this Torani – Peach Syrup to give these oats even more of a peachy taste. Just a small amount will do.
Torani sent me a bottle of their Peach Syrup for #BrunchWeek this year and I was more than happy to give it a try in these Overnight Oats.
Q&A:
- What kind of oats do you use for Overnight Oats?
Rolled Oats
- Can you make them in advance?
You can! I know a lot of people that make 4-5 on Sunday, pop them into the fridge and then have them for breakfast each morning. I prefer to make mine 3 at a time.
- Do I have to use Frozen Fruit?
No, but I think it’s easy and has a burst of flavor once it’s been thawing in the oats all night.
- I don’t want to eat them cold, can I warm them up?
You can! I like mine a little warm too so I normally just remove the top and pop it into the microwave for about 30 seconds.
Sweets and Treats Shop sent me the sweet Reusable Plastic Ice Cream Spoons (plus some fun sprinkles that I used in another recipe and JoyJolt sent me these Lacey Double Wall Insulated Glasses that are the perfect size for Overnight Oats!
