I’ve never been to China, but I have been to Chinatown in London and Chinatown in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. However, even though we haven’t made it to China in our travels, we do have a love of Chinese food…or I suppose American Chinese Food.
I also have a love of Copycat recipes! Chain Restaurants, hometown cafes, coffee shops, I love to recreate meals from menus and share them with you here on the blog.
Today’s copycat is a super easy one that I think you’ll love! Copycat P. F. Chang’s Mongolian Beef!
Ingredients For Slow Cooker Mongolian Beef:
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic

How To Make Copycat P. F. Chang’s Mongolian Beef in the Crockpot:

Toss steak slices and cornstarch into a bowl and toss together until steak slices are fully coated.

Add 2 tablespoons of oil to a skillet and heat to medium-high.
Add steak to skillet.

Sauté the steak in the skillet for 5 minutes until the steak is slightly browned.

In a medium-sized bowl, add the remaining oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, and garlic. Whisk together.

Add the steak to the slow cooker with the marinade and slow cook on high for 2 hours or low for 4 hours.

Serve warm/hot.

Delicious as is, over noodles, jasmine rice or white rice.

What is the best cut of beef to use for Mongolian Beef?
We like to use flank steak for homemade Mongolian Beef.
Is Mongolian Beef a Chinese dish?
It is! Although the name can be misleading, Mongolian Beef is a Chinese dish, well I suppose a Chinese dish as well as an American Chinese dish.
