photo wb2_zps651ab8ab.png You’ve all heard the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of the day right? I mean it’s been drilled into my head since I was probably in preschool. Yet I still can’t bring myself to eat a lot in the mornings. I just have no desire to make something and sit down and eat that early.

Cereal, Pop-tarts and coffee are my weapons of choice in the mornings. Most of the time though I’m lucky if I can remember to make my coffee. So in a mad rush to get to the office one morning, I poured my cereal and milk into a mason jar, screwed on the cap and was on my way.

Since that day, it’s been one of my favorite ways to eat breakfast in the morning. I only live about 5 minutes from work, so the cereal is not so terribly soggy, although I do admit that I like for my cereal to absorb a lot of milk before I eat it. I can eat it at my desk and when I’m done, I rinse it out, screw on the cap and put it in my purse. While we’re in the quest for better eating in our household, my normal cereal combination of fruit loops and whole milk has been replaced with organic gluten free chocolate rice cereal and soy milk. I never in a million years thought that I would be enjoying organic gluten free chocolate rice cereal and soy milk in the mornings. But indeed I am. Did you know that Soymilk has 50% more calcium than dairy milk.?! I didn’t know that until recently. I learn something new every day.

photo wb1_zps23e6d5ef.pngSpeaking of coffee in the mornings, Silk has a really great Iced Coffee that I’ve been drinking in the mornings  It also really fits into our new change in lifestyle. I don’t feel guilty about drinking it. Right now I’m in love with the new Silk Vanilla Iced Latte. If you haven’t tried soymilk, you should really #TasteSilk, I think it’ll change your mind about soymilk. It’s super smooth tasting and helps me get my day started, because believe me, I can use any help in the mornings that I can get. Not to mention reaching for an iced coffee in the mornings is a bit quicker than brewing it, especially since the days are getting hotter here. I mean this morning it was, 60F by 7:30am (a huge jump in temperature since last week this time it was snowing), yikes. I need everything I can get that’s cold and refreshing!

photo wb8_zps1114750c.pngPlus, it only 100 calories per servings, it has no artificial sweeteners, no artificial flavors and no high-fructose corn syrup! That last part makes me really, really happy because just the word “high-fructose corn syrup” gives me the heebie-jeebies now.

We still eat bad things, I can’t quit them cold turkey, but I’m glad that I can start to incorporate better things into our life without feeling deprived. It’s all about a lifestyle change for me
