When I started planning my wedding back in 2006 I didn’t even think about the fact that the date we picked was so close to Valentines day. I don’t remember exactly why we picked February 3rd, I mean I remember why we moved our wedding up to February from the original date of September 29th, 2007 but I don’t remember why we picked the 3rd. I think it might have had something to do with Thomas’ military schedule at the time but to be honest I don’t exactly remember.
I had originally planned on a fall wedding. A fall wedding would have given me over a year to plan our wedding. A month or so into planning our wedding Thomas got orders that he would be deploying to IRAQ in March. so we had to make a decision about the date.
Should we push the date back and wait for him to get home from deployment or should be move the date up and get married before the deployment. Thomas was totally against waiting until after the deployment and wanted to make sure that we were married before he went overseas. So, we made plans and we moved the date to February 3rd, 2007 and went into wedding planning overdrive.
We set the date, everything was crazy, I rushed to plan and didn’t realized that we were so close to Valentines day until we started to price things. So, a wedding in February that has a theme of red and white roses ended up being a curse and a blessing haha.
There was a ton of red and white stuff out and about for me to pick from but everything was way expensive because everything was out and priced for Valentines day haha.
Oh and you know what, Thomas ended up not having to deploy that March after all. A few weeks after we were married, they moved him to a new unit which wasn’t going to be deploying till the next year!
Our 9th wedding anniversary is coming up and with that and Valentines Day on it’s way I have pink, red and puffy hearts on the brain. 😉

I’ve thought about how it would be with a wedding anniversary close to Christmas, but I never thought about Valentine’s Day. One good thing is that everywhere you turn you are reminded of the day… and not just on the day!
haha I was just telling my husband the same thing when we went out for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant was all decorated for valentines haha. I said, isn’t it nice to go out and they’ve decorated for our anniversary. hahaha 😉
