I love getting surprise packages in the mail from the brands I love and one of my favorite mail days is when I get a cereal package from General Mills cereal! For Christmas they sent out these super fun Christmas Chex mix themed boxes with recipe cards, items to make chex mix and a personalized kitchen towel! Y’all, if you want to win my heart, send me something with my blog name on it! haha.
So they didn’t ask for a post to be shared but I loved the Buddy The Elf™ Sweet Maple Chex™ Mix recipe they sent me and thought I’d make it with Jackson for Christmas this year and share the recipe with y’all!
This Buddy The Elf™ Sweet Maple Chex™ Mix is a chex mix version of the breakfast spaghetti that Buddy the Elf makes in the Christmas movie, “Elf”.
What you’ll need for this Buddy The Elf™ Sweet Maple Chex™ Mix: (amounts below in recipe)
- Corn Chex™ cereal
- maple-flavored syrup
- butter, melted
- mini vanilla wafer cookies
- mini pretzel twists
- white chocolate chips
- holiday sprinkles (red, white and green)
- Cinnamon Chex™ cereal
- roasted and salted almonds
- miniature marshmallows
- candy-coated chocolate candies (red and green)
- milk chocolate chips
Lay 2 large sheets of wax paper or foil on a flat surface.
In large microwaveable bowl, combine corn Chex cereal, maple syrup and melted butter. Stir well.
Pop the bowl into the microwave and heat for 4 minutes, stirring well after each minute
Spread the mixture onto one of the foil sheets and let it cool completely.
While the maple coated cereal is cooling, spread the vanilla wafer cookies and pretzels in single layer, right side up, onto the other foil sheet.
In small microwaveable bowl, microwave 1/2 cup of the white chocolate chips for 60 seconds, stirring after 30 seconds, until chips are melted and smooth.
Transfer melted chips to small, resealable food storage bag or a piping bag. Cut a small corner from one end of bag.
Drizzle white chocolate on top of cookies and pretzels. Top with sprinkles; let cool 20 to 30 minutes, or until drizzle is set. Carefully break apart the pretzels and cookies.
PRESENTATION:
Use a round or oval serving dish to resemble a plate for spaghetti.
Combine the maple-glazed cereal, cinnamon cereal, cookies, pretzels and almonds together in the bowl.
(I like to stir it together in a large bowl and then pour it into the serving dish)
In small microwaveable bowl, microwave remaining white chocolate chips for 60 seconds, stirring after 30 seconds, until chips are melted and smooth.
Transfer melted chips to small, resealable food storage bag or a piping bag. Cut a small corner from one end of bag.
Drizzle on top of snack mix to resemble a spaghetti pile.
Top with marshmallows and candies.
In another small microwaveable bowl, microwave milk chocolate chips for 30 seconds, stirring after 15 seconds, until chips are melted and smooth.
Transfer melted chips to small, resealable food storage bag or a piping bag. Cut a small corner from one end of bag.
Drizzle on top of candies, marshmallows and snack mix to resemble chocolate syrup,
Let chocolate cool until hardened (stick it in the fridge to speed up this process)
Break into pieces to serve.
