How To Make Cookies and Cream Pie /Oreo Pie:
-
To make the crust, you’re going to combine the crushed cookies with melted butter. Then press them into a pie dish to create the Oreo cookie crust.
-
Next, follow the recipe (all ingredients are here on the Dixie Crystal site) and make the cookies and cream pie filling.
Make sure when you’re mixing the filling mixture, make sure to slowly fold in the crushed cookies so that you don’t make the filling too dark. We just want to lightly stir in the cookie crumbs. So, don’t use a mixer for this step, just use a spoon or a spatula. -
Spoon that wonderful Oreo cookie and cream pie filling into the prepared cookie crust.
-
If you want to, you can pop a few Oreos on of the pie.
-
Pop that pie into the fridge and let it chill for about 8 or so hours.
-
Tip: For easier slicing, remove from the refrigerator and let pie sit at room temperature for about 5 minutes before slicing.
How to Serve Cookies and Cream Pie:
I love to serve slices of this pie with a swirl of Crème Chantilly / Whipped Cream and an Oreo cookie.
You could also sprinkle some crushed cookies over the pie or whipped cream.
Another option is to serve your pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of caramel or chocolate sauce.
Other Flavor Ideas:
This recipe for cookies and cream pie can be easily adapted to suit your preferences. If you prefer a thicker crust, simply adjust the amount of cookie crumbs and butter used. Likewise, if you want to add more or less cookies to the filling, feel free to do so. Here are a few variations to try:
- Mint Chocolate Chip: Add a teaspoon of peppermint extract to the filling and fold in chopped Andes mints instead of chopped cookies.
- Peanut Butter Cup: Mix 1/4 cup of creamy peanut butter into the filling and top with chopped peanut butter cups.
- Raspberry Swirl: Swirl raspberry jam into the filling before baking for a fruity twist.
Now that you have some variation ideas, let’s talk about how to present your cookies and cream pie.,
Tips and Tricks:
Looking for ways to elevate your cookies and cream pie game? Here are some expert tips and tricks to help you bake the perfect pie every time:
- Use high-quality ingredients: To get the best flavor and texture, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This includes everything from the butter and sugar to the cream and chocolate cookies.
- Make your own crust: While store-bought pie crusts can save time, making your own crust from scratch can take your pie to the next level. It may require a bit more effort, but the results are worth it.
- Crush the cookies by hand: For the perfect texture and consistency of the crust, crush the cookies by hand instead of using a food processor. This will give you a coarser texture that lends itself well to the pie. However, if you don’t want to crush them by hand, that’s ok! A ziploc bag and a rolling pin will also give you a similar texture.
With these tips and tricks, you can create the perfect cookies and cream pie for any occasion. From family dinners to holiday parties, this dessert is sure to be a hit with everyone. So give it a try and enjoy the sweet taste of success!
Is a Cookies and Cream Pie the Same as an Oreo Cookie Pie?
