I remember one of the first times that I had Rocky Road fudge. I was at a chocolate shop in an airport and I remember the people in that shop just going crazy over the fudge. I admit that Rocky Road is a pretty good flavor so I knew it would be great as a pie!
What kind of nuts should I use for a Rocky Road Pie?
I used walnuts for this pie but when it comes to Rocky Road desserts, sometimes people will use almonds as well. Either one will work. However, if you’re allergic to nuts, you can leave them out. Believe me, this pie will taste just as wonderful with or without them.
Cookies for the crust?
I normally always choose cookies over graham crackers when I’m making any type of pie. I try to match the cookie crust with the same flavor type that the pie is. For example, I use chocolate sandwich cookies when I make this Rocky Road Pie, our favorite Holiday Oreo Pie or Triple Chocolate Pie.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! You’ll want to put this pie into the freezer for at least 8 hours or until it is frozen in order to be able to slice it. I like to set this pie out about 5 or 10 minutes before I’m ready to slice it.
You sure can! I’ve made this pie and ice cream pies like this and kept them into the freezer for few days before serving and they’re great. If you’re worried about freezer burn, cover the pie in plastic wrap after it is frozen.
