I have always loved making crafts so naturally I’m always trying to think of fun crafts to make with my son and my nephew. They’re still little (2 & 1.5) so I try to find crafts that don’t need a ton of work and crafts that they can mainly help decorate. They both love to color and draw. I saw a photo of a milk jug birdhouse on Facebook a while back and we decided to give them a try. You could also fill these with bird seed and turn them into bird feeders.
What you’ll need to make a DIY Milk Jug Bird House: (directions below)
- Milk Jugs
- Stickers
- Crayons
- Markers
- Twine/String
- Paper Straws
- Hot Glue
What should we use to decorate milk jug bird houses?
The boys used crayons, markers and stickers to decorate their bird houses. You could also paint them!
I let the boys color and draw all over the milk jugs before stuck stickers everywhere and then I cut out the doors, glued on the paper straw window seal and tied twine on the top to hang it.
They loved decorating them and Jackson was super excited to hang his bird house outside. He even gathered up some mulch and grass to put in the birdhouse for the “tweet tweets” haha.
