If you’re looking for the worlds best Dulce De Leche Brownies, you’ve come to the right place! You’d never guess that these were made with a cake mix!

Dulce De Leche Brownies

I’m one of those people that gets ridiculously excited about their friend’s success.  I love it when my family and friends achieve great things and recently, my friend Hayley did just that! This year she published her cookbook. ” Out of the Box Desserts“ and I am so very happy for her!

Her publisher sent me a copy a few weeks ago and I’ve been in love with every single photo and recipe that I’ve looked at!  The photos are gorgeous (just like the ones on Hayley’s blog) and the recipes are so easy to follow.

Out of the Box Desserts by Hayley Parker

I know she’s been counting down the release date of her cookbook baby and oh my and guess what! Today is the day y’all!

Hayley’s cookbook comes out today!

Dulce De Leche Brownies

No matter what kind of baker you are, you’re going to want to grab a copy. She’s got a ton of fantastic, tempting recipes that take ordinary ingredients like cake mix and transforms them into amazing, out of this world desserts, like these Dulce De Leche Brownies.

She’s also got some from scratch recipes in the cookbook too! I’m tell ya, you’re gonna love it.

So today, to celebrate,  I’m making the Dulce De Leche Brownies from Hayley’s new cookbook,” Out of the Box Desserts“ and sharing the recipe with y’all! (with her permission of course haha)

Dulce De Leche Brownies

So, onto the Dulce De Leche Brownies! Let’s start with the Dulce De Leche, yes you can make your own but that’s NOT what we’re doing here. We’re using the Dulce De Leche in a can.

By the way, speaking of Dulce De Leche in the can, you may be tempeted to just pick up a can in the baking section of your local market, but take a second and walk over to the Hispanic section of the grocery store. You can normally find Dulce De Leche there and it’s normally less expensive. Maybe not a ton less but hey, sometimes every penny counts, right?

Also you can find the sweetened condensed milk for the recipe for less money in the Hispanic section too.

Now it’s onto the rolos. Y’all, rolos are one of my favorite candies. Oh my gosh and do you know that I didn’t start eating them until like 4 years ago. I was totally missing out on these lovely little candies all of those years!

Look, here is pretty much the only thing I changed up from Hayley’s original recipe.

Hayley’s recipe calls for 30 unwrapped rolos. Now before I knew about mini rolos I would have just been like “Ok” and started unwrapping 30 rolos, but I’m not about that life. hahahaha

I took a short cut and bought the mini rolos that are already unwrapped. Since I was using the mini ones, I used 50. BUT feel free to use whichever you want. It’ll turn out perfect either way.

I’m just lazy. haha

Also one little things that I want to note. When start making these and you’ve started to mix the cake mix and egg with the melted butter you’re going to think that it’s too dry. Don’t worry, just keep mixing and it’ll all come together. It’s not going to be like a normally brownies batter though, so don’ fret. It’s going to look more like a chocolate cookie dough. 🙂 – Just wanted to throw that our there.

Also, make sure to take notice of Hayley’s note about letting them sit. They’re super ooey, gooey so you’ve got to let them sit for quite a few hours after they come out of the oven so that they cool down and firm up so that you can cut them. I know it’s going to be hard to wait for them but you just gotta have patience. It’ll be worth it!

Dulce De Leche Brownies

Oh my and let me tell you something. If you’re looking for the most amazing, chocolate, caramel, Dulce De Leche stuffed dessert on the planet, look no more because you have found it. These Dulce De Leche Brownies are literally one of the best brownies that I’ve ever had.

I give Hayley huge props for making such a fantastic and easy brownie! I have to be honest, I see myself making a lot more of these in m future and I see myself experimenting a lot more with cake mix brownies too!

Dulce De Leche Brownies If you're looking for the worlds best Dulce De Leche Brownies, you've come to the right place! You'd never guess that these were made with a cake mix!

  • Prep Time: 10m
  • Cook Time: 35m
  • Total Time: 45m
  • Yield: 9 bars

Ingredients

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
  • 1 cup Rolos, unwrapped and cut in half
  • 1 small can (7-8 oz) prepared dulce de leche
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8x8” or 9x9” baking pan with foil, extending the sides of the foil over the edges of the pan.
  • Spray the foil liberally with cooking spray; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, egg and melted butter with a spatula until a soft dough forms.
  • Press ¾ of the dough into the prepared pan in an even layer; top with all of the halved Rolo candies.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together half of the can of dulce de leche and the full can of sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Pour the mixture evenly over the Rolo candies.
  • Crumble the remaining dough on top, trying as best as you can to cover the condensed milk layer as completely as possible. It’s okay if some of the condensed milk mixture peeks through.
  • Bake for approximately 30-35 minutes or until the center appears mostly set – if it jiggles a little bit, that’s okay.
  • Cool completely in the pan before cutting into bars. Once cut, drizzle with remaining dulce de leche.
  • NOTE: Because these brownies are super fudgy and gooey, you may want to wait for the brownies to set up overnight before cutting into bars.

Oh yum yum. Wanted to make this so bad. I went to Food City and Walmart trying to find diode de leche. They did not have it. I ordered some on line, but it was not prime so I will have to wait or make my own. That’s what I’ll probably do. Thanks for sharing. I love all your recipes.

Oh no. I wonder why your Walmart doesn’t carry it. I can normally always find it at Walmart or Food Lion around here

A friend shared pics of a cake his mom had made for him and I wanted to lick my Kindle’s screen!!! It was made with dulce de lece and our little grocery store carries it. Even better, it comes in chocolate!! Fortunately I’d picked up two cans cuz I ate almost a whole can just tasting.
