While I’m not crazy about the name, we can’t deny that dump cakes are ridiculously easy to make.
You basically just dump the ingredients for the apple cake into a casserole dish and let it bake up into the most wonderful dessert.
Should I Use Homemade Apple Pie Filling or Store Bought Apple Pie Filling For This Apple Cake?
You can use either for this recipe! I’ve used both and they’re both canned apple pie filling and homemade apple pie filling are fantastic. If You want a TON of apples, you may want to use extra cans of apple pie filling but I like just 1.
What Size Baking Dish Should I Use For This Apple Dump Cake Dessert?
I like to use a 2 quart oven safe casserole dish for cakes like this.
How Long Does Apple Cake Last?
You can store this apple cake in an airtight container for about 3 days in the fridge. Just heat in the oven or microwave before enjoying. The flavor is so much better when it’s warm.
How To Make Easy Apple Dump Cake:
Preheat your oven and then start on the cake. This cake is going to take no time at all to put together.
Pour apple pie filling into a casserole dish.
Mix crumb topping together according to the recipe (link to Dixie Crystal site where recipe is below). Its just a mix of a few dry ingredients and melted butter.
Then just sprinkle the topping mixture evenly over the apples.
Now it’s time to pop it into the oven
Let it bake for about 30 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and you can smell the apples.
This apple dump cake is perfect on it’s own but it’s also great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
