A week or so ago my husband and I went to a new place called The Celtic Fringe. It’s a little Irish pud right over the NC line. We fell in love with it. We even went back last Thursday with my parents so that they could try it out. We knew they would love it. We were right.
When it came time for dessert, I wanted to try something new. That’s my goal when I visit a new restaurant I always want to try things on the menu that I don’t normally eat. It’s fun and I always end up with a new favorite.
That’s exactly what happened with this Flourless Chocolate Torte. I had never had one and to be honest I didn’t really even know what it was. I mean, I kind of figured that it was cake like but other than that I didn’t know.
After one bite I knew that I was in love. It literally tasted like I was eating a slice of fudge. Oh my gosh! Hello new dessert love haha.
So what did I do? Oh you know… just went on the hunt for a great flourless chocolate torte recipe. But almost all of the ones I found were for Flourless Chocolate Torte Cake things. They all looked like cake, not like the amazing chocolate torte I had at the restaurant.
So a few days went by and I went to lunch with my mom at The GingerBread House and there on the dessert board was “Flourless Chocolate Torte”. It was taunting me. I ordered it, I ate it and the love affair continues. It was rich and just like fudge. I knew I could find a recipe for this.
After a little more searching I finally decided on the Black Beast – Flourless Chocolate Torte from the blog Simply So good. I only changed it up a tiny bit from hers. I used chocolate chips in my torte and I used dark chocolate for my ganache. Simply so Good does have some wonderful step by step photos on her blog for the Flourless chocolate torte, so if you’re going to make it you might want to check them out if you need a visual of the steps.
But this is how I made mine and how it turned out. I’m pretty excited about how great my first one turned out. I thought for sure that I’d have to make a few to get it right. I do need to work on my ganache skills haha, but other than that it was perfect.
I am also 99.9% sure that this is gluten free. Which means that it’ll be perfect for my brother’s girlfriend, Meghan!
