Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs

We’ve made it to the end of June and I still haven’t planned any summer cookouts or beach trips this year. Well, I take that back, I have planned a beach trip for August; I just haven’t been to the beach yet. Grilling on the other hand, not much of that has taken place this summer, yet.

We use to grill out quite a bit when we had a patio and yard, apartment living makes grilling a little more challenging.

Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs

While I love living downtown, the one thing I miss about our house is the patio. I use to love to sit out on the patio in the evenings, sipping a glass of wine while Thomas cooked up our dinner on the grill.

I would set my music up, play with the puppies and just enjoy the summer evening breeze. That is one thing I don’t love about living downtown. Sure a few of us go out and sit in the alley and chat sometimes but it’s not the same as having a place where we can relax and grill.

Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs

I’ve got my fingers crossed that our apartment building will fix up the area on the side of our building and add a few grills this summer.  That would be fantastic, wouldn’t it?

I can see us sitting downstairs now with these Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs on the grill and a glass of  Jadot Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay in my hand because it pairs beautifully!

How many of you pair your wines with your food….or do you pair your food to your wine? haha

If  you’re looking for a beautiful glass of wine to go along with these kabobs you’ve found the right one. A bottle of this Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay goes perfectly with them.

Now I know if you’re looking up at the photos, there is also a bottle of Beaujolais-Villages. I’ve been told, by a few friends that love Jadot Wine, that the Beaujolais-Villages goes amazingly perfect with anything that’s grilled.

But you see, I’m a white wine kind of girl so that’s always my go-to!

However if you’re a red wine lover, give the Beaujolais-Villages a try with these grilled shrimp and peach kabobs and let me know what you think of that combination.

But let’s get back to the Kabobs!

I’ve got just a few little notes for you!

These kabobs are simple to toss together and they do cook pretty quickly. You can cook them on a charcoal or gas grill. They’re also perfect grilled on a grill pan on top of the stove.

If you don’t have a grill or a grill pan, you can also pop these skewers under the broiler for a bit.

Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs

I do want to remind you though that since they are brushed with a honey based sauce, you’re going to want to make sure that you keep the heat to a medium. Don’t crank that heat up super high. If you try to cook them super quick because all you’re going to do is burn the heck out of the honey.

Look, no one wants to eat burnt charred honey shrimp. haha

Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs

So, grab a bottle of Jadot Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay, I’ll pour us a glass of wine and grill up some kabobs while we sit here and enjoy this summer evening!

Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs Ready to break out the grill and start grilling up dinner? Start your evening off with these Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs!

  • Prep Time: 10m
  • Cook Time: 15m
  • Total Time: 25m
  • Yield: 8 Grilled Shrimp and Peach Kabobs

Ingredients

  • 3 ounces honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon mild chili powder
  • Juice from 1/2 of a lime
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime zest
  • 24 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 -3 large peaches, peeled and cut into chunks
  • Olive Oil
  • 8 kabob sticks

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, lime juice, chili power and lime zest.
  • *If you\'re worried about the wooden skewers burning, soak them in a bowl of water for about 30 minutes before threading them with the shrimp and peaches.
  • Heat your grill or grill pan on medium heat.
  • Brush grill pan or grates with a small amount of olive oil.
  • Thread Shrimp and Peaches onto skewers.
  • 3 Shrimp per skewer, each shrimp separated by 2 pieces of peach.
  • Lightly brush each side of the shrimp and peach skewer with the honey mixture.
  • ** Make sure not to get to the grill or grill pan too hot or the honey will burn!**
  • Cook uncovered for 8-14 minutes, flipping occasionally until shrimp is cooked.
  • Shrimp will turn pink and curl up when cooked.
  • Side note* you can also cook these in the oven under the broiler for about 6-10 minutes - just keep an eye on them so they don't burn*

I am terrible. I don’t drink the wine but I sure love cooking with it! It just adds a whole new flavour. But hey, I could totally see this appetizer paired with wine at a BBQ 🙂

This looks delicious. I love grilling so much. I hope they put in that area for you guys, that would be awesome.

I haven’t been to the beach yet either. I have done some cookouts though. We should do a blogger bash at the beach and grill all weekend long.

I have always loved the Beaujolais-Villages, but I had no clue that they also have a Chardonnay! Going to have to look for that. And these kabobs look amazing! Love that you added peaches. 🙂
