TGIF – It’s Time for the Weekend 5/1/15

April is over and it’s time to dive head first into May. I can’t believe that we’re already starting the 5th month of the year yet on the other hand, it seems like January 1st, 2015 was 10 years ago.

So here’s what’s been going on over the past month….

I spent a few days in Wilmington this month with some of my favorite people.

It was much needed after opening up on the blog about some weight issues and self-esteem problems.

We went to the Azalea Festival, ate too much ice cream and dipped our toes into the icy April waters of the Atlantic.

We also strolled through Carolina Beach and Ft. Fisher  for a bit! #HistoryNerd

Ps. Have you had a Doughnut from Britts Doughnuts in Carolina Beach? You’ve GOT TO get one at least once. Although I’m pretty sure that after one you’ll be hooked for life.

I missed out on going to the Old South Ball but I did embrace my inner history nerd one Saturday and venture downtown with the parental units to see the Civil War reenactors on the law at the Sutherlin mansion.

I worked on #BrunchWeek recipes all month and you’ll be seeing them on the blog next week! Be sure to come back because there are going to be tons of fantastic brunch recipes next week and lots of giveaways!

I also published my first “Mini Preview Recipe Video” over on Facebook. I’ve got my fingers crossed that it does well.

But before all that I used my favorite ButterCream Icing Transfer Method to make Alyssa’s birthday cake this year!

So if you’re not a great cake decorating *all fingers pointing to me right now* this is a super easy way to create a cute cake! haha

I also used the same method but with royal icing for some of the cookies!  ok.. those didn’t turn out as cute lol.

The other day I ran into the mall to get my nails done and I made the mistake of running (ok walking…we all know that I don’t run) down to Bath & Body Works and of course I got sucked in and had to buy something.

I walked out with my head hung in shame along with some new candles, a new car air fresher and a nail file. A nail file, a cute Hawaii looking nail file….y’all I just got my nails done…as in gel nails…what the heck am I gonna go with a nail file. I hate the sound of filing my nails!

I swear, Bath and Body Works is almost as bad as Target! I just can’t go in and not buy something.

But… I did get the cutest car air freshener!

It’s a Mason Jar.

It’s the cutest thing ever!

Anywho…

So what’s been floating around the internet?

I’m totally love these cookie decorating videos from SweetAmbs that have been popping up all over Facebook.

The Noble Pig made me miss Hawaii even more with her re-cap of their trip to Oahu, Hawaii!

Kelly from JustATaste.com shared a video on Facebook about how to ripen bananas in 15 minutes.

My BFF from high school, Liz, started a social media consulting business! She totally knows what she’s talking about and you’re going to want to check her out! (You can find her on Facebook too!)

Oh and have y’all checked out Air BnB? I’m in love with this site and I haven’t even used it yet. Well…I mean I’ve looked up things and planned trips but I haven’t booked anything yet.! You can pretty much rent an apartment or house for the same amount of money as a hotel! I can’t wait to try it out!

I’ve already picked out houses in Hawaii and New Orleans!

Ps. Miss some recipe this month from my blog?

Here’s what I posted this month:

Spring Dessert Pudding Cups
Chicken and Broccoli Penne Alfredo
Baked Egg Pizza Subs
Hot Fudge Cake Ice Cream Sundae
Brownie Brittle Toffee Crunch Cupcakes
Caramel S’more Pie
Cookie Cereal Marshmallow Treats
Candy Explosion Cookies

Happy Friday Y’all!

Here’s to a great month!

I’m jealous of your little weekend getaway. It sounds like a ton of fun… I’ve never been to Carolina, but it’s totally on my list, especially after seeing that gorgeous scenery in your pix.
PS: I am dying over that adorable mason jar air freshener. Not that I have a car that I could put it in… but I suppose I could tie one to my bike, right? 🙂

I love the Farmer’s Market and Farm to Table meals but I’m also not ashamed to use canned vegetables and baking mixes. It’s all about balance! I’m so glad y’all are here!
