Need a Valentine’s day dessert for tomorrow. Throw together this Three Ingredient Valentine’s Day M&M Fudge for your sweetheart today!

Valentines Day M&M Fudge (1)

No matter how the rest of my weekend goes, I’m totally content because my Valentines has been made haha. Isn’t it so funny how one little event can fill your heart for days and days.  I had mentioned to my niece’s dad that we should grab dinner one night so that we could see Savannah Bug and today while I was sitting at the office working on accounts the door popped open and in walked my niece!

Her dad followed in behind her and asked if we’d like to grab dinner and that was all she wrote. Of course I said yes, I got off work, we met Thomas at the apartment and we headed out to spend a few hours catching up and spending some much needed time with our sweet niece and her dad.

This is a huge deal, you see I won’t go into all the details because this isn’t really the time for it but to make a long story short, due to some events that went on in the family last year, we don’t get to see her much anymore. We use to have her a lot, so much to the point that people we knew would see us in public and ask us where Savannah was haha. So it’s a big change not get to have her around as much as we use too but we’re grasping onto every little moment we get to spend with her. I haven’t talked about it on the blog because it literally breaks my heart.

BUT HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to me, Thomas and I got to spend time with our little Valentine Bug!

Valentines Day M&M Fudge (1)

So how perfect was it that our little dinner date with our bug bug and her dad happened right before Galentines Day? Wait…did I spell that right… YEP! I totally meant Galentines instead of Valentines.

You see, Galentines is the day BEFORE Valentines. It’s the day before the mushy couple love day that you celebrate those friends in your life that mean the world to you. Now Savannah isn’t old enough to be my “BFF”. “Bestie” but I hope that we stay close no matter what obstacles are thrown at us. One day when she’s older, I hope she’ll be right there in my close circle of friends. Well you know, a strong loving friendship that only an aunt and niece can have. <3

But for now, even though I started off my Valentines weekend with my Savannah Bug, today I’m celebrating my girlfriends. I have so many wonderful women that I call friends. I’m a lucky girl, but I have to admit that I have a small handful of girls that I consider my top 4.

Crystal, Meghan, Nicole (Tilly) & Nikki (again, just like last year, I totally arranged them in alphabetical order because they’re all equally special to me for different reasons.)

Crystal is my cousin/twin (ok, not really, really my twin, we just seem like the same person haha) – we both love to bake, cook and craft. We don’t get to have as many craft days as we’d like but when we do get together, we have the best time. We both love Disney and Posh. We love the beach and feel the same about everyone we know. If I’m going to make a comment about someone she already knows what I’m going to say. We make the same faces when we’re thinking about certain things or people haha. She gets me. She gets me because she pretty much is me. 😉 We were both military wives and we both lived at Camp Lejeune (at different times), we both miss Camp Lejeune like crazy.  She has 3 little girls, Layla, Emma and Paisley, that are my cousins/god-daughters but I’ve claimed them as my nieces. 😉

Meghan is going to be my sister in law soon!!!! Ahhhhhhhhhh because it’s only taken my little brother 10000000 years to ask her to marry him. I’ve know her since she started dating my brother back in 2009. She’s just like me, she can be ridiculously sweet but if you cross her or mess with the people she loves she will snap out on you. haha. I couldn’t have asked for a better woman for my brother. We’ve gone to the beach together on family vacations, made a trip to Disney and we’re planning another one soon. I’m going to be a bridesmaid in their wedding this September and I’m so excited.  We don’t get to hang out as much as I’d like because we’re both super busy with work and life but I know she’s there if I need her and she knows the same of me. We’ve shared secrets and laughs together and she’s one of the first people that I think of when I have news to share. I so lucky that I’m gaining her as a sister this year!

Nicole (Tilly) – is my “sister from another mister” haha We’re college sorority sisters. We met during my first year in college and we stuck together like glue. She’s my Italian sister that looks at me like I’m a mad woman when I use canned tomato sauce and will curse me in Italian.  She would hunt someone down if they hurt me and I’d do the same. She is totally insane and makes me laugh so much–our snap chats back and forth prove it. We slipped away from each other for a few years, she was living in Florida for a while before her mother passed away and for a while afterwards.  However, one day we were talking and I could tell she was so sad and depressed that I told her to come home (to VA), she packed up what she could in her car, drove from Florida to my house in VA and never went back. She stayed with us for a while and then married her sweetheart Mario. Now they have a sweet little girl named Robyn and I’ve never seen her happier.

Nikki has been my best friend since we were like 19 years old. We met at Rock-ola when we were both waitresses. I remember when we first became friends we use to take these trips to Greensboro for shopping and Starbucks; Those were some of the best girl time trips. She’s my total opposite and I am hers. She’s pretty much the female version of my husband and I am the female version of hers. haha. She was my maid of honor in my wedding and we’ve been beside each other for some of the best times and a few of the worst. She’s my beach/Wilmington travel buddy too, 99% of the time if I’m in Wilmington, I’m with her. I actually started going to Wilmington with her when we were 19 and that’s when I fell in love with the city. We’ve been taking trips to Wilmington together ever since. When Nikki and her husband go to the beach, I go with them and their girls and we don’t even bat an eye at it. Heck back before the kids were around for beach trips, Nikki, David and I were always making trips to Wilmington together, you’d think it was odd but we’re pretty much family.  She has two girls, Alyssa and Kendra. Alyssa was my first god-daughter ever and Kendra was my second.

Happy “Galentines Day”, Girls! I love you!

By the way…the reminds me that I need to make some more of this Three Ingredient Valentine’s Day M&M Fudge to share with my girls!

What a sweet tribute to the ladies in your life. Thanks for joining in today and taking some time to appreciate the awesome women. The aunt and niece relationship is so special. My nieces are almost grown now and I definitely consider them close friends. I hope the same for you and Savannah!
